Lights, camera, action! Ready to go live on TikTok? Read on to learn more about the process of going live. Tik Tok
Going live on TikTok allows you to interact with a new audience, feature your products, and let those shoppers check out from within their TikTok app. It’s a streamlined experience that minimizes the number of steps a shopper has to take to make a purchase.
In this article, we cover going live on TikTok only. If you are looking to multistream your live sale on TikTok AND other sales channels (e.g., your website, mobile app, etc.), check out this article.
Before You Go Live
Before you can go live on TikTok, you must complete the following tasks in the order presented:
- Register your business with TikTok. Can take up to 48 hours for TikTok to approve.
- Configure shipping for TikTok orders. Tells TikTok what to charge for shipping.
- Sync products with TikTok. Must be done 48 hours before a live sale to ensure TikTok has time to review and approve products.
What You Need to Know
Going live on TikTok to feature and sell products has a few extra steps and requirements. We want to highlight these here.
Necessary Equipment
Going live on TikTok requires two mobile devices:
- The device where you will host your TikTok LIVE via your TikTok app. You will focus on this device when interacting with viewers and featuring your products.
- The device where you have your CS Broadcast app installed. This device is necessary in order to manage your live sale in CommentSold.
You will need both devices even if you’re only going live on TikTok. If you are doing live multiple channels (including TikTok), we recommended having the two devices side-by-side.
When using two devices, we recommend you mute the volume on both streaming phones. Not the audio for the stream, but the device/phone volume itself.
Product Approval
Any products you wish to feature and sell must be created in CommentSold and synced to TikTok 48 hours before a live sale. This ensures TikTok has time to review and approve the products.
Additionally, products must be published to your mobile app or website to appear in TikTok once synced.
Step 1: Log into CommentSold and TikTok on Your Browser
Ensure you are logged into both your TikTok creator account (e.g., @mybusinessname, @shopbluestone, etc.) and CommentSold in the same browser window. You can have each website as a separate tab, as pictured below.
- CommentSold. You will need this tab open so you can manage your live sale products and respond to comments from your different channels (e.g., TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, mobile app, etc.).
- TikTok Creator Account. Keep this tab open so comments can feed into the Real-Time Comments feed in CommentSold. You don’t need to interact with this tab—just ensure you’re logged in.
Step 2: Reconnect Your TikTok Creator Account
You will need to reconnect your TikTok creator account on the TikTok tab of your Social Setup page. This is the primary account your shoppers follow for content.
When you connect, a token is created for the session and these tokens expire. Reconnecting your account ahead of your live sale ensures you have an active session in which you can go live.
- Select Social Setup in the side menu of your CommentSold dashboard.
- Select TikTok from the options listed at the top of the page.
- Locate and select the Connect TikTok Account drop-down menu, then select Connect.
- On the TikTok login page, select Use phone/email/username.
- Select Log in with email or username above the login fields.
- Enter your Username (e.g., @peachesandpockets, @shopbluestone, etc.) and Password in the corresponding fields.
- Select Log in.
You will be redirected back to your TikTok page in CommentSold. You should see a Connected! message well as a green checkmark on the far-right side of the page.
Step 3: Start the Broadcast on Your CS Broadcast App
Even if you plan to go live on TikTok only, you will need to start the broadcast feed on your CS Broadcast app. This is necessary to access your products and real-time comments in your CommentSold Live Overview.
iOS Device | Android Device |
- If you’re using an iOS Device, you’ll tap Broadcast at the bottom of the app to access the video screen. From there, tap the red Record button at the bottom of the screen.
- If you’re using an Android Device, upon logging in, you’ll be taken directly to the video screen. From there, tap the red Record button on the side of the screen.
Step 4: Start your TikTok LIVE on Your Creator Account
Start your TikTok LIVE stream on your dedicated TikTok device. You should be live via the creator account (e.g., @mybusinessname) you connected to CommentSold.
Step 5: Select Products to Feature in CommentSold Live Overview
You will use your CommentSold Live Overview to select products to feature. Like a traditional live sale, you can choose a product selection you created ahead of time or a dynamic selection, where you scan or add products on the fly.
Products must be published to your mobile app and/or website.
Products approved by TikTok will display a green TikTok Approved badge beneath the product name. We recommend only showing products that are TikTok-approved if you are going live on TikTok. If you attempt to select a product that isn’t approved, you will receive an error message in the bottom-left corner of your Live Overview.
Step 6: Choose Where to Go Live
Now it’s time to choose where you want to go live.
- Locate the Real-Time Comments section on your Live Overview.
- Select Choose Where to Go Live, then Go Live Normally.
- On the pop-up, select the Live on TikTok checkbox.
- Select additional channels, if desired.
- Select Go Live in the bottom-right corner of the pop-up.
Step 7: Manage Real-Time Comments from TikTok Viewers
Your Real-Time Comments section will display comments from your TikTok audience and viewers commenting via different channels (e.g., your mobile app, Facebook, etc.).
You can view these two feeds on two tabs (the default view) or on a split screen. For a split screen, select the Split icon in the top-right corner of the Real-Time Comments section and choose one of the following options:
- Split Vertically. View the two feeds side-by-side.
- Split Horizontally. View the two feeds with one on top of the other.
In your TikTok feed, you can see your TikTok viewers, navigate to their TikTok profiles, and even block viewers, if necessary.

-
Why is my TikTok feed blank?
- Ensure you’re logged into your TikTok creator account on a separate browser tab. This is necessary for the comments to flow through to the Live Overview.
-
Can I block or filter certain words from being used in comments?
- Moderation keywords allow you to filter out comments that contain negative language proactively. You can customize this list with up to 200 keywords. Your customized list is in addition to TikTok’s default comment moderation guidelines which filter out profanity, obscenity, and discriminatory comments.
- Tap Settings on the right side of the screen.
- Locate Keyword Filter and tap the + icon to the far right.
- Add your desired keyword(s).
- Keywords are not case sensitive (i.e., adding bad will also filter out Bad and BAD).

- Once added, a keyword will apply to all live sales moving forward. To remove a keyword, select the X to the right of the keyword.
