Add a Product Type to a New and Existing Products

Want to add custom product types to your new and existing products? Read on to learn how.

With product types, you can assign custom categories to products for better organization on your website and mobile app. These categories will appear as additional filter options on your category and collection pages.

For example, if you were to use the default product categories for shirts, you would be limited to Apparel & Accessories > Clothing > Shirts & Tops. With product types, you can specify as detailed as Blouses, Long-Sleeve, Sleeveless, etc.

Before you can add a product type to new or existing products, you will need to create the custom product types on your Product Types page.

Add a Product Type to a New or Single Product

1. Select Products in the side menu of your CommentSold dashboard.
2. Select the product you wish to edit.
   • Adding a new product? Select Add Product in the top-right corner of the page.
3. Locate and select the Product Type drop-down in the top-right corner of the product record.
4. Select the desired product type from the options listed.
5. Select Update Product in the top-right corner of the page.

Add a Product Type to Existing or Multiple Products

This option is a great time-saving option if you need to apply a product type to multiple products you have already entered into CommentSold. 

1. Select Products in the side menu of your CommentSold dashboard.
2. Select the checkbox to the left of each product to which you wish to assign a product type.
3. Select the green Selected drop-down at the top of the product listing.
4. Select Manage Product Type from the options listed.
5. On the pop-up, select the desired product type from the Product Type drop-down.
6. Select Apply.
