Connecting to Social Media Accounts

CommentSold can be connected to Facebook, Messenger, and Instagram. 

 

Before you can begin to sell products from shoppable posts and live sales on social media, you will need to connect your accounts to CommentSold. In this article, we will show you how to do this step-by-step.

Connecting Your Facebook Account

 

The first step to connecting your social media to CommentSold is to connect your Facebook account.

 

In order to connect your Facebook account to CommentSold:

 

  1. Visit the Social Setup tab in your CommentSold admin dashboard.
  2. Click the blue Connect Facebook button at the top of the screen. If you are logged into Facebook on your browser, you may connect automatically. If you are not logged into the Facebook account that has admin access to your business page and groups, you will need to log in.

 

When the connection is successful, you will see your Facebook name along with buttons to "Re-Connect Facebook" and "Disconnect Facebook."

 

 

Connecting Your Facebook Groups

 

Once your Facebook account is connected to CommentSold, you can connect your Facebook groups as well. Adding a Facebook group to your account is entirely optional! If you don't have a group to connect, skip ahead to get instructions for connecting your Facebook page.

 

In order to connect your Facebook Groups to CommentSold:

 

  1. Visit the Social Setup tab in your CommentSold admin dashboard. By default, clicking this will instantly direct you to the Facebook Groups setup.

  2. You will see a list of the groups you are an admin of. If you do not see the Facebook group or groups you are trying to connect with, make sure the Facebook account with admin privileges is connected to CommentSold. Click Enable Group next to any groups you would like to sell in with CommentSold. "'Sold" comments will be read from any connected group.

  3. Next, you'll need to add the CommentSold app to each of your Facebook groups. Go to Facebook and visit each Facebook group you have enabled to add the CommentSold app. Click the Settings tab in the left-hand menu. 

  4. Scroll down to "Advanced Settings" and click the pencil icon next to "Apps, then click Add Apps.
  5. Search for the CommentSold app and give it all of the requested permissions.

  6. Go to Business Tools on Facebook, then click View and Edit next to the CommentSold app. 
  7. Make sure that all permissions listed here are toggled ON. In the "Who can see you use this business integration", section, choose Public and click Save

  8. Switch back to the Social Setup tab in your CommentSold dashboard. From here, click the button to Re-Connect Facebook.

  9. Repeat the process of adding the CommentSold app for each of your enabled Facebook groups.

There are several settings to address once your Facebook groups are connected. These appear as toggles Facebook Groups settings under the Social Setup tab. We will address the key settings here.

 

Page is linked to group

If your Facebook business page is linked in its Facebook settings to the groups you enabled, the "Page is linked to group" setting must be enabled. If your Facebook business page is not linked to the groups you enabled, this setting must be disabled. In order for auto-replies to work, your enabled page must be linked to your enabled group(s). Go Live as Page instead of Profile

If your Facebook business page is linked in its Facebook settings to the groups you enabled, turn on this setting, as going live as a page rather than a personal profile will simplify customer registration.  Learn more about going live as your Facebook page here.

Autolink to post

In order for our autolinking system to work for individual products, this setting must be enabled. This setting will connect any post in your enabled Facebook page and groups that contains a #SKU with that product within CommentSold.

 

Autolink Posts to Product Selections

In order for our autolinking system to work for product selections, this setting must be enabled. This setting will connect any post in your enabled page and groups that contains a #(Product Selection Name) with that product selection within CommentSold.

 

We recommend that you read through the descriptions of the other settings for Facebook and decide what works best for your business!

 

 

Connecting Your Facebook Page

 

Once your Facebook account is connected to CommentSold, you can enable the business page you would like to connect to. While it is not required to connect a business page to CommentSold, you will need one connected in order to go live as your business page rather than from your personal profile and to use auto-replies. 

 

Note: You can only have one Facebook Page enabled per CommentSold account, and it must be a business account.

 

In order to connect your Facebook Page to CommentSold:

 

  1. Visit the Social Setup tab in your CommentSold admin dashboard. Click on Facebook Pages at the top of the screen.

  2. You will see a list of the pages you are an admin of.

  3. . If you do not see your business page, make sure the Facebook account with admin privileges is connected to CommentSold. Click Enable Page next to your business page.

There are several settings to address once your Facebook page is connected. These appear as toggles within the Social Setup tab of your CommentSold dashboard. We will address the key settings here.

 

Note: If you already made selections for these settings when enabling groups, you do not have to do it again! The toggled settings between the Groups and Pages sections of the Social Setup tab are synced.

 

Page is linked to group

If your Facebook business page is linked in its Facebook settings to the groups you enabled, this setting must be enabled. If your Facebook business page is not linked to the groups you enabled, this setting must be disabled. In order for auto-replies to work, your enabled page must be linked to your enabled group(s). Learn how to connect your group to your page here.

 

Autolink to post

In order for our autolinking system to work for individual products, this setting must be enabled. This setting will connect any post in your enabled page and groups that contains a #SKU with that product within CommentSold.

Connecting Messenger

 

Once your Facebook account and business page are connected to CommentSold, you can enable Messenger. 

 

In order to connect your Messenger to CommentSold:

 

  1. Visit the Social Setup tab in your CommentSold admin dashboard. Click on "Messenger" at the top of the screen.

  2. You will see a list of the pages you are an admin of. If you do not see your business page, make sure the Facebook account with admin privileges is connected to CommentSold. Click "Enable Page" next to your business page.

You should have made selections for most of the settings on the Messenger setup page when enabling your page or groups. There is one remaining Messenger-specific setting to address if you have connected a Messenger account.

 

Automated Page Response

Enable this setting to deliver an automated response to those who message your Facebook business page. Type the message you would like delivered in the Template box and click "Update Template."

 

 

Connecting to Instagram 

Once set up, CommentSold allows you to publish shoppable posts and Stories to your Instagram account. However, you must meet the initial requirements and perform a one-time setup before you can use these features.

In order to sell on Instagram using CommentSold:

  1. Your Instagram account must be linked to your Facebook Page & it must be converted to a Business Account (if you haven’t done so already).

  2. “Access to Instagram Messages” must be enabled in your Instagram settings through the Instagram app.

  3. Both your Facebook Page & Instagram Business account must be connected to CommentSold. 

We’ll walk you through the series of steps that are necessary to get started. You have likely completed some of the first few steps already. If so, feel free to skip ahead.

Note: If you were using CommentSold to sell on Instagram before the latest update, you will still need to enable access to Instagram Messages & reconnect your Facebook & Instagram accounts in CommentSold.

 

Convert Your Instagram Profile to a Business Account

To convert your shop’s Instagram profile into a Business Account, follow these steps.

Note: When you are asked, be sure to switch to a Business Account, NOT a Creator Account. Having a Creator Account will cause errors in CommentSold.

Once you have converted your account, you’ll be ready to connect your Instagram account to CommentSold.

 

Enable Access to Direct Messaging on Instagram

To send auto-replies as direct messages, you must enable direct messaging through your Instagram settings. This can only be done through the Instagram app.

While signed in as your business account, go to Settings > Privacy > Messages and toggle on Allow Access to Instagram Messages.

 

Connect Your Instagram Account to Your Facebook Page

If you have not yet linked your Instagram business account to your Facebook Page, you will need to do this by following these steps

 

Once your Instagram account and Facebook page are linked, you will now be able to connect your Instagram account to CommentSold.

 

Connect Your Instagram Account to CommentSold

Once you have your Facebook Page and Instagram business account connected through Facebook, you will need to connect them or reconnect them in CommentSold.

 

Note: If your Facebook Page is not yet connected to CommentSold, you will need to do this now. You can find instructions on how to do this here.

 

  1. From your CommentSold dashboard, click the Social Setup tab, then click Facebook Pages from the top menu.

  2. Click the button to Connect or Re-connect to Facebook at the top. Do NOT skip this step even if you have connected to Facebook before.

  3. Look under “Pages” to see a list of the Facebook Pages that are connected to CommentSold. You want to check that the Facebook Page that you’ve linked to your Instagram account appears here and that it’s enabled. 


    If enabled, you will see (Enabled) next to the page name. If it’s not enabled, click the Enable Page button next to it.

  1. Next, you will need to enable your Instagram account in CommentSold. From the top menu, click Instagram.

  2. You will click the Re-connect to Facebook button once more to give CommentSold permissions to send private replies through Instagram. After this is complete, you’ll receive a confirmation popup. Click OK to proceed.
  3. Look under “Connect your Facebook Page” and confirm the correct Facebook Page and Instagram account are linked together. Then, enable them by clicking the Select Page button. 

    Now you have connected your Instagram account to CommentSold.

Once you've connected your Instagram account to CommentSold, there are still a few settings to address under the Instagram tab in Social Setup.  You can toggle these settings on or off here.

 

Post to App on Autolink

This setting is disabled by default. When this setting is enabled, CommentSold will simultaneously post the product to your mobile app at the same time as your autolinked posts are published to Instagram.

 

Send Notification on Autolink

If Post to App on Autolink is disabled this setting does not apply. When Post to App on Autolink is enabled in addition to this setting, it will automatically send out a push notification to your app users once an autolinked post has been published to your app.
