This Article Covers:

Requirements & Considerations

In order to accept payments for products sold through CommentSold, you will need to choose at least one of the service providers available to you:

  • Stripe
  • Square
  • Sezzle
  • Paypal

Once you've chosen and connected your payment gateways, they will show up as an accepted payment method for your customer when they shop with you across any of the sales channels you have connected to CommentSold. These channels can include your social accounts such as your Facebook Page, Facebook Groups, Instagram Business Account, as well as your privately owned channels provided to you through CommentSold, such as the Webstore and mobile app.

Please note the following before you get started:

  • You will need to have an account with at least one of these payment gateways when you're ready to connect them to CommentSold.

  • Multiple payment gateways can be connected at the same time, save for one exception. You cannot connect Stripe & Square at the same time in CommentSold, as they are incompatible with each other.

  • All of your shop's payments will be processed through the gateway(s) of your choosing. CommentSold does not hold any of your shop's funds.

Connecting Sezzle

Sezzle is a popular Buy Now, Pay Later option that allows shoppers to split the balance owed for their orders into 4 interest-free payments, each 6 weeks apart.

Sezzle charges shops a percentage of the total order amount to keep the option interest-free to customers. Shops receive the total order amount (less the fee deducted by Sezzle) immediately.

Note: CommentSold has pre-negotiated rates with Sezzle. Typically, Sezzle charges 6% + 30¢/transaction with 7-day payouts. By signing up through CommentSold, you will get a special rate of 2.50% + 30/transaction with a 1-day payout. After 30 days, you'll be charged 5.50% + 30¢/transaction with a 1-day payout.

If you have an existing Sezzle account, you will need to create a new account to take advantage of this offer.

Data from CommentSold shows that offering Sezzle has very positive effects on revenue and customer retention. On average, shops saw a 45% increase to Average Order Value (AOV) when using Sezzle versus other payment processors. Customers were 21% more likely to return to purchase from the shop when using Sezzle versus other payment processors!

Sezzle requires you to have products posted to your shop prior to being approved for a merchant account. If you do not already have a Sezzle merchant account, you may want to revisit this section later. You can move forward with connecting Stripe, Square, and/or PayPal prior to having products posted in your shop!

If you do not already have a Sezzle Merchant Account, submit the application here. Prior to submitting, you will need to have products posted to your shop and return and privacy policies in your CommentSold account.

To add these return and privacy policies, visit your CommentSold admin dashboard and click on "Returns." Scroll down to the box labeled "Return Policy." Enter your return policy and privacy policy in this box. These are both required for Sezzle Merchant Accounts.

It may take up to three business days for your Merchant Account application to be approved. Once approved, continue on with the instructions below!

In order to connect Sezzle to CommentSold:

    1. Click the Setup tab in your CommentSold admin dashboard.
    2. Click on Payment Gateways and scroll down to the section for Sezzle.

    4. Make sure the "Display on Product Page" toggle is enabled to offer Sezzle as a payment option for your customers. When enabled, customers will see the Sezzle widget when shopping your products.

If your return policy allows for customers to be refunded to their original payment method, you will want to have this setting enabled. If disabled, refunds can only be issued as account credit.

Refunds must be in the form of account credit or to the original method of payment. It is not possible to issue a refund to an alternate destination (such as another card or bank account), regardless of whether or not this setting is enabled.
