Migrating from the Classic to the New Webstore

If you had a Classic Webstore with CommentSold before the New Webstore was released, please make the switch by completing a quick and easy migration.

As a friendly reminder, all Classic Webstores will automatically update to the New Webstore on February 1, 2022. Classic Webstore will no longer be available after this date.

Although your webstore content will automatically transfer over during the switch, we strongly recommend completing a few steps for a quick and easy migration before February 1st!

Why is it important to do this now?

By making the switch now, you will have full control over the changes that would otherwise take place automatically. This gives you the ability to make any necessary edits, identify any issues, and experiment with the customization before your webstore goes live.

Essentially, this is the best way to ensure that everything is transferred over as smoothly as possible and that all changes will be to your liking.

What are the next steps?

Our Support Team Lead, Jennifer Simon, covers everything you need to know about making a smooth transition in the video below. You can watch this to learn more or read on for written instructions.

Take a look at your CommentSold dashboard. If the tab above Webstore Design says Classic Webstore, you are still on the Classic version and need to make the switch.

You will see a banner at the top announcing the New Webstore.

If you click the green Get Started button, you will be taken to the new Webstore Design tab. From there, you can easily perfect your design with the new tools. The preview on the right side of your screen allows you to see how the changes will appear on your webstore. You can also click the Mobile icon at the top center of your screen to view how your webstore will look on a mobile device. You can learn more about designing your webstore here

If you’re ready to launch your new webstore right away, you can simply press “Publish”. Just be sure to check the preview to make sure everything looks good beforehand.

Note: Until February 1st, your existing webstore (Classic version) will remain live to your shoppers until you decide to hit Publish in the Webstore Design Tab.

What else do I need to know?

1. Before you get started, you will want to make sure that you don't have any pages or collections that share the same name. This will ensure that the system does not get them confused in the transition.

2. You'll also want to make sure that all of your links are working before you begin. You can go through your current webstore and click through them to test this out.

3. You may notice from the preview that you need to make adjustments to some of your images.

The table below outlines the types of images that will live on your webstore, as well as our general recommendations for image sizing. Images must be in .jpg or .png format to be accepted.

Image Type

Recommended Image Size

Logo

1000 px width / 500 px height minimum

Slideshow Images

(formerly known as “Banners”)

2000px width / 1000px height minimum

Promotional Block Images

4. Your migration will not be fully complete until you click Publish from the Webstore Design Tab.
