This article will detail how to use CommentSold Shipping for shipping with USPS.
Once you've set up CommentSold Shipping and sold items, you're ready to begin shipping!
This Article Covers:
Preparing for Shipping
Before you can begin shipping, you will need a way to print your shipping labels.
Choosing a Label Printer
For boutiques shipping up to 100 orders per day, we recommend the Dymo 4XL printer. The Dymo 4XL is a thermal printer that can print up to 53 labels per minute. It is compatible with multiple shipping platforms, including CommentSold Shipping.
If using a Dymo printer, be sure your Shipping Labels Theme is set to Dymo under Setup → Shipping Labels in your CommentSold dashboard.
Prepaying Shipping Labels
Before you will be able to print labels through CommentSold, you will need to pre-purchase shipping credit. You can do this in your CommentSold dashboard under Setup → Shipping → Prepay Labels. The minimum amount you can purchase is $100.
If desired, you can enable "Auto Purchase Prepaid Credit" to allow CommentSold to charge your card as needed when purchasing shipping labels without prepaid credit.
Once you have completed these steps, you are ready to move on to processing orders!
Processing a Single Order
If you would like to process just one order, you can do so from the Orders/Fulfillment tab of your dashboard. Select "Paid" orders and locate the order you would like to ship.
Hover over the order and click the label icon to the far right.
You will then enter the package details. Entering correct information in these fields ensures your label is created with the correct postage.
If you are using a poly mailer, you can check the box for "Is Poly Mailer?" to remove the Package Name and height requirements.
Once complete, click the green "Create Label" button. A popup will appear, displaying the price of the label and confirming that you want to complete the purchase. Click "OK" to proceed!
You will now click the green Print Shipping Labels button to the top right of your screen.
A new window will open with your packing slip and shipping label, allowing you to print them! If you are using a regular printer, you will want to set your printing options to landscape with zero margins.
Once you print your label, be sure to click on the green button to "Mark Labels as Printed." If this button is not clicked, the system will reprint the label the next time you are processing orders.
You can now package your item and ship it out to your customer! Once you have done this, click the gift icon next to the order in the Orders/Fulfillment tab to mark the order as fulfilled.
A pop up will appear to confirm the action.
You have now processed a single order! Read on to learn how to process multiple orders at once.
Processing Multiple Orders
If you have more than one order you would like to ship at once, you can do so from the Orders/Fulfillment tab. For this process, you will rely on the buttons across the top of the screen to guide your steps!
Begin by clicking "Process All." When you click this, you will see a message appear confirming that all open orders were set to Processing status.
Move to the next step by clicking the button for "Create Labels." This will open a new window.
Here, click the box next to Status to select all orders at once. Click the green "Calculate Prices" button to see the shipping label prices for each order.
After you have reviewed the order list and label prices, click the blue "Confirm & Buy Labels." A pop up will appear to confirm that you want to make the purchase. Click "Confirm" to continue!
Next, click the button for the third step on the Orders/Fulfillment tab–Print Local Pickup. If any local pickup orders were just processed, you will print those out here.
Finally, you will click the button to Print Shipping Labels.
A new window will open with your packing slips and shipping labels, allowing you to print them! If you are using a regular printer, you will want to set your printing options to landscape with zero margins.
Once you print your labels, be sure to click on the green button to "Mark Labels as Printed." If this button is not clicked, the system will reprint the labels the next time you are processing orders.
With your packing slips and labels printed, you are now ready to ship your orders! Once orders have shipped, click the gift icon next to each order in the Orders/Fulfillment tab to mark each order as fulfilled.
A pop up will appear to confirm the action.
Note: CommentSold does not allow you to mark multiple orders as fulfilled at once. This is a safeguard within the CommentSold system to reduce the likelihood of mistakes!
Shipping Hand Sanitizer
USPS classifies hand sanitizer as a flammable product. Due to the risk of flammable items on aircrafts, hand sanitizer must always be shipped with Ground Shipping. It is the shops' responsibility to ensure that hazardous items are shipped correctly.
Note: Not complying with USPS rules can result in fines and/or cancelled service to your business.
This “Ground Shipping” label is a special label that is not currently offered through the CommentSold Shipping platform. In the event you are shipping ground only items, those packages must be taken separately to the post office to allow you to purchase the proper shipping label.
The CommentSold team is actively looking into bringing our shops the ability to print Parcel Select labels directly through our system.
