If your Apple Developer account was created as a Sole Proprietor account, you will need to convert it to a Company/Organization account before starting the mobile app process.

In order to convert from individual to company, the following is required:

  • The owner of the individual account must be the founder or cofounder of the organization
  • The organization must not operate as a sole proprietorship
  • The organization must not already be enrolled in the Apple Developer Program.

If you operate as a sole proprietorship and wish to form an LLC, here is a resource that can help you with that process.

When you're ready to request that your Apple Developer account be converted, make sure you have the following available:

  1. Your D-U-N-S® number
  2. Legal business name and status
  3. CEO/Owner Name
  4. Legal Address
  5. Business Phone Number
  6. Website — You can use your webstore address (from CommentSold or another provider)

Once you have collected all of the above information, go to https://developer.apple.com/support/enrollment/ and click the Contact Us button.

Selecting your country and choose Account Updates and Renewals as the topic. Craft a message indicating that you would like to convert your account to a Company/Organization account, or use the suggested language below:

I’d like to convert my account from Individual to Company/Organization. This will be our only Company/Organization account.

Include the list of information (1-6) above. It is very important that you state that you would like to convert your existing account to a company. If you have an existing mobile app, creating a brand new company account will create issues.

After submitting the message, expect a phone call to verify the information you provided. A form should also follow the phone call and will need to be filled out appropriately and submitted to Apple promptly.

During the migration process, you will not experience any disruptions within your existing app, but may run into issues with push notifications going out.

Once the migration is complete, you will then need to add the CommentSold developers to your account. From within your CommentSold dashboard, visit the Mobile App tab and go to the section for Apple Account. Here you will see an email address that you must invite to your Apple Developer account as an admin in order for CommentSold to work on your app. Copy this to paste in your Apple Developer account!

From your Apple Developer portal, click the blue + button and fill out the following:

  • First Name: Mobile
  • Last Name: Team
  • Email: What you copied from the Mobile App tab in CommentSold
  • Roles: Admin

When you have successfully converted your account and added the CommentSold team, notify Chat Support or your Account Strategist!
