Add a Category to New and Existing Products

Simplify the shopping experience by assigning products to a product category!

Product categories allow you to organize your products into groups, similar to your webstore and mobile app collections. It helps with SEO and allows you to add a "Shop All" option to your website navigation to quickly show all categories and nested categories to your shoppers.

You can define the category on the product record and also have the option to assign categories in bulk. We walk through both flows below.

Add a Category on the Product Record

You can add a product category to the record of new and existing products. If you wish to update multiple products simultaneously, please jump to the next section.

1. Select Products in the side menu of your CommentSold dashboard.
2. Select Add Product on the right side of the page.
   • Adding a category to an existing product? Locate and select that product to open the record.
3. Locate the Product Category section on the right side of the page.
4. Enter a keyword for the product in the field provided. CommentSold will filter category results to best fit the keyword.
5. Select your desired product category. The All Categories drop-down field will adjust accordingly.
6. Proceed with creating the new product or select Update Product in the top-right corner to save changes to the existing product record.

Once you have added a product category to a product, you will be able to view that category on the main product list.

Update the Product Category for Multiple Products

You can update the product category for multiple existing products at the same time. You will want to ensure that the products you select belong to the same category as CommentSold will apply the chosen category to the products you selected.

1. Select Products in the side menu of your CommentSold dashboard.
2. Locate each product whose category you wish to update and select the checkbox to the left of the product image.
3. Select the green Selected drop-down button at the top of the product listing.
4. Select Update Category from the options listed.
5. In the pop-up, enter a keyword for the products in the field provided. CommentSold will filter category results to best fit the keyword.
6. Select your desired product category. The All Categories drop-down field will adjust accordingly.
7. Select Apply.

Now when you view the products on your product list, you will see the updated category below the product name.
