Initial Setup Requirements
- Your CommentSold account cannot have any existing orders. If you have added any products directly in CommentSold, please delete them before starting the inventory sync.
- Ensure the sync requirements are met in Square before initiating sync.
- Avalara must be enabled in CommentSold and set up correctly.
Inventory Sync Requirements
Products must have the following;
- The item must be set as Physical Good in the Item Type
- Name
- Price (In USD only)
- Description
- Inventory tracking enabled in Square
- Inventory tracking type must be Track by Stock Count
- Items have to be sold “per item” (cannot be sold by hour, etc)
- Product must be in the location synced with CommentSold
- Option Sets in Square should be Color and Size only
Order Sync Requirements
- Avalara must be set up correctly in CommentSold
- Must have sales tax enabled in Square

Locations in Square must have Pickup or Delivery enabled
Variations & Options: What’s the difference?
Square doesn’t use the same terminology as CommentSold.
Square uses Option Sets as categories for Variations.
CommentSold only recognizes color and size options so we recommend only using Color and Size as the Option sets in Square. You can adjust these in Square here.

How to Turn on Inventory Tracking
- From your item library in Square, select the item.
- Scroll to the Variations section.
- Select the Actions dropdown.
- Select Turn on inventory tracking.
- Select Save in the top of the Product page before exiting.
How to Turn on Track by Stock Count
- From your item library in Square, select the item.
- Scroll to the Variations section.
- Select the three dots to the far right of the Variation.
- Select Change Tracking.
- Click Track by Stock Count.
- Select Save in the top of the Product page before exiting.
How to Check if Sales Tax is Enabled in Square
Go here, the page should look like this if enabled.
Limitations & Restrictions
- Cannot be used with MyShipManager/Shopify Sync
- Not compatible with the CommentSold Scheduled Sales feature
- Not compatible with the CommentSold Retail Price Changes feature
- CommentSold does not support 3rd party Square integrations
- Will not sync Digital Products from Square (gift cards, downloads)
- Will not sync Event products from Square (tickets)
- Will not sync Coupons from Square
