Reporting in CommentSold gives you a summary of your business's performance for a selected date range. Use it to review revenue, orders, returns, fulfillment, customers, and inventory, then drill into detailed sections, charts, and CSV exports.
Reporting is organized into tabs: Overview, Revenue, Orders & Returns, Customers, Inventory, CSV, and Analytics. Each metric has an info icon (ⓘ) you can hover over to see exactly how it's calculated.

Open Reporting and Set Your Date Range
- Select Reporting in the side menu of your CommentSold dashboard. Reporting opens on the Overview tab.
- Select a tab at the top of the page, or type in the Search reports, sections, sub-tabs… bar to jump straight to a specific report or section.
- Enter a Start and End date, then select Retrieve. Select Today to return to the current day.
- Expand the sections you need. On the Revenue, Orders & Returns, Customers, and Inventory tabs, detailed sections can be opened and closed individually. Use Expand All or Collapse All to open or close every section at once.
| Tip! Reporting defaults to today's date. Your selected date range carries over as you switch between the Overview, Revenue, Orders & Returns, Customers, and Inventory tabs. The Analytics tab uses its own date range, which defaults to the last 12 months. |

Overview Tab
The Overview tab gives you a quick snapshot of your business with one tile for each area. Select any tile to open its full tab.

Revenue Tab
The Revenue tab shows what you earned, what it cost you, and where sales came from. Four summary tiles appear at the top: Total Payments, Product Revenue, Cost of Goods Sold, and Gross Profit.
Revenue
Product revenue, costs, margins, and taxes for the selected date range.

| Total Payments | Payment amount charged to the customer after coupons, credit, shipping, tax, and order fees are applied. Equal to Net Receipts in Insights. |

Revenue by Order Source
Shows product revenue broken out by Experience (rows) and Channel (columns). Use the filters to narrow which experiences and channels are included.
- Experience: How the customer was interacting with your shop when the item was carted.
- Channel: The device or platform the customer was using when the item was carted.
Payments by Hour
A chart of Total Payments by hour of day, so you can see when your customers are buying. Use it to plan the best times for live sales and posts.
Coupons
Coupon usage, discounts given, and sales impact. For each coupon you'll see First-Order Customers, Uses, Discounts Given, Total Sales (order subtotal minus the coupon discount), and COGS. Select Export CSV to download the table.
Orders & Returns Tab
The Orders & Returns tab covers order volume, fulfillment, and returns. Summary tiles at the top show Total Orders (includes split orders), Average Order Value, Returns (total refund amount by return date), and Packages Fulfilled.
Orders
- Number of Orders. Total orders, split into Paid (paid, printed, or processing orders not yet scanned as fulfilled) and Fulfilled (orders scanned as fulfilled, including returned orders).
- Average Order Value. Average payment amount, excluding split (child) orders.
- Average Time to Checkout. Average time from when an item is carted to checkout.
- Number of Items: Purchased vs. Waitlisted. Items purchased compared with items added to the waitlist, shown as counts and percentages. Select View By Collection or View By Size to see units sold, units waitlisted, sold %, and waitlist % for each collection or size.
Shipping & Fulfillment
- Packages Fulfilled. Shipping labels created on the CommentSold Shipping Platform.
- Shipping Revenue. Shipping amount charged to customers.
- Shipping Cost. Cost of shipping labels paid for through CommentSold and created on the CommentSold Shipping Platform.
Returns and Refunds
Use the Date filter applies to toggle to choose whether this section reports by Return date or Orders date.
- Total Refunded Amount. Total refunds, as account credit or to the original payment method.
- COGS of Returns. Cost of the products returned.
- Items Returned. Number of items returned.
- Return Rate. Items returned in the date range divided by items purchased in the date range.
- Average Days to Return. Average number of days from checkout to return for returned items.
Below the metrics, four sub-tabs break returns down further. Each can be downloaded with Export CSV.

Return reasons come from the options you set up in Setup > Returns.
Packer Overview
Fulfillment activity by employee for the selected date range: Packer, Orders Fulfilled, Products Fulfilled, Shipping Costs, and Oz Fulfilled (total product weight).
Customers Tab
The Customers tab covers acquisition, credits, and your most valuable buyers. Summary tiles show Total Customers, First-Time Purchasers, New Signups, and Guest Checkouts.
Customers
Date-filterable customer metrics (based on your selected date range):
- New Signups. Users who created a new shop user profile.
- First-Time Purchasers. Users who placed their first order.
- Guest Checkouts. Users who checked out as a guest, meaning they placed an order before creating a shop user profile.
- Total Customers. Users who placed an order.
- App Downloads. Users who downloaded your mobile app, broken out by Android, iOS, and Other/Unknown.
Lifetime customer metrics (not date-filtered):
- Total Customers. Lifetime count of users who placed an order.
- App Downloads. Lifetime count of users who downloaded your mobile app, with the same platform breakout.
| Note: Other/Unknown counts downloads with no recorded platform, such as older installs. Android and iOS are counted separately, so a shopper with both devices appears in each. The platform rows can add up to more than App Downloads. |
Customer Credits
Remaining customer credit balances (not date-filtered):
- Total Credits. All unused account credit across customers.
- Payment Credits. Credit earned from cash-related sources, such as returns or gift cards.
- Discount Credits. Credit earned from non-cash sources, such as loyalty credit and referral bonuses.
Remaining gift card balances (not date-filtered):
- Total Unredeemed. Gift card value issued or purchased but not yet applied to a customer's account or used in a purchase.
- Redeemed. Gift card value that has been applied to a customer's account or used in a purchase.
Account credit movement during time period (based on your selected date range):
- Order Returns. Store credit issued from processed returns.
- Admin-Issued Credit. Store credit issued by your team.
- Loyalty Program Credit Issued. Credit customers earned from your loyalty program.
- Loyalty Clawback. Loyalty credit removed from customer accounts.
- Credit Transferred due to Merging Customer Accounts. Credit moved when duplicate customer accounts were merged.
- Credit Issued for Shipping Charges. Credit issued to cover shipping charges.
- Credits Issued. Total of all credit issued during the period.
Best Customers
Your top customers by Total Orders and Amount Spent, plus whether they've downloaded your app. Select Export CSV to download the list.
Shooting Stars
Spots high-value customers whose spending is growing or slipping. These lists are not date-filtered.

Top Commenters
Your most active commenters across live sales for the selected date range.
Top Returners
Customers returning the most items, with Returned, Items, Orders, Refund $, Spend, and return Rate. All Top Returners metrics are based on order date. Select Export CSV to download the list.
Inventory Tab
The Inventory tab covers what's on hand, how it's selling, and what customers want. Summary tiles show Inventory Retail Value, Inventory Cost, Pre-Authorized Waitlist, and Pending Waitlist.

Several sections include an Include deleted products option so you can add or leave out products you've deleted.
Inventory
The current retail value and cost of received goods on hand, broken out by Warehouse with Retail Value, Cost, and Items. Real-time; not date-filtered.
Aged Inventory
How long unsold stock has been sitting on the shelf. View By Brand or By Size, with value grouped into Not Posted, Scheduled, 0–30 Days, 31–60 Days, 61–90 Days, and Over 90. Not date-filtered.
Sell Through
Sold versus on-hand inventory By Brand, By Size, or By Collection, with Sold, Inventory, Revenue, Potential, Margin %, and Sell-Through %. The date range selects products whose most recent social or in-app post falls in that period, then calculates lifetime sell-through for those products. Select Export CSV to download.
Best Selling
Your top sellers By Product, By Variant, By Brand, or By First Purchase, with units sold and revenue.
Waitlist
Waitlisted items filtered by All, Pre-Authorized, or Pending, showing the customer, product, variant, price, status, and date added. Select Export CSV to download.
Favorites
The products customers have favorited most during the selected date range.
Mystery Items
Mystery item sales, including Total Mystery Item Retail Value and Total Mystery Item COGS.
CSV Tab
The CSV tab lists every downloadable report in one place, including Orders Overview, Ordered Products, Customers, Inventory Snapshots, Inventory Detail, Returns Report, Sales Tax by Location, Store Credit Activity, Gift Cards Report, Shipments Report, Packer Productivity, and more.
- Scroll the list or search for the report by name in the search bar.
- Each report card shows its first few columns. Select View All Columns to see every column included, or use Expand All Columns / Collapse All Columns for every card at once.
- Select Generate on the report card to create the CSV.
Analytics Tab
The Analytics tab shows long-term trends in charts. It has its own date range, which defaults to the last 12 months.
- Monthly Total Payments by Payment Method and Total Payments by Payment Method. How customers are paying, month by month and overall.
- Monthly Product Revenue by Channel and Product Revenue by Channel. Which channels (such as admin or webstore) drive your product revenue.
- Lifetime Records. Your top 10 Best Day and Best Month by Total Payments, across the lifetime of your shop.
FAQs
How do I change the date range?
Enter a Start and End date at the top of the tab, then select Retrieve. Select Today to go back to the current day.
Does every metric use the selected date range?
No. Inventory Retail Value, Inventory Cost, the Inventory and Aged Inventory sections, lifetime customer metrics, remaining credit and gift card balances, and Shooting Stars are real-time or lifetime values. Look for the Not date-filtered label.
How do I see how a metric is calculated?
Hover over the info icon (ⓘ) next to the metric name to see its definition.
Why don't my return totals match between sections?
The Returns tile and Total Refunded Amount report by return date by default, while Top Returners is always based on order date. In the Returns and Refunds section, use the Date filter applies to toggle to switch between Return date and Orders date.
Why is the Average Order Value different on the tile and in the Orders section?
The summary tile includes split orders. The Average Order Value in the Orders section excludes split (child) orders.
Can I see sales and waitlists by collection or size?
Yes. On the Orders & Returns tab, open the Orders section and select View By Collection or View By Size.
Where can I review fulfillment activity by employee?
Use Packer Overview on the Orders & Returns tab to review orders fulfilled, products fulfilled, shipping costs, and weight fulfilled per packer.
