Product videos are short, informative videos that retailers often include in a product's media. When a shopper taps into a product, they can browse static images and these short videos. 

Product videos can cover a variety of topics. Examples include, but are not limited to:

  • Makeup swatching videos
  • How-to-use or demo videos
  • Styling videos
  • Fit videos
  • Close-up footage for jewelry, fabrics, or more detailed products

How Product Videos Benefit Your Business


  • Provide on-demand videos that answer questions, provide insight, and/or give inspiration for a specific product.
  • Help shoppers better visualize a product in the wild (e.g., top wearing a model, home decor in a living room setting, etc.).
  • Reduce support questions by providing shoppers with a demo or "how to" video.

Upload a Product Video Using the CS Broadcast App (iOS)


If you have installed the CommentSold Broadcast app on an iOS device, you can upload or record a product video to a specific product. This streamlines the upload process and bypasses the need to link the video to a social post.

  On an Android device? At this time, only shops using the CommentSold Broadcast app for iOS can record and upload product videos. We are working to provide this functionality on Android devices.
  1. Locate a product in one of three ways: using the Search field, scanning the product barcode, or scrolling to the product.
  2. Tap the desired product, then tap Upload Video.
  3. Choose whether to Pick a Video from the Camera Roll or Record a Video using the app.

Products with a video attached will display a small video icon beneath the product name, as seen with the Bowl Set product in the GIF to the left.

 

 

 

 

Upload a Video Using Linked Facebook Posts


Retailers can post a product video on their Facebook business page and link the post to a specific product. This will tie the video to the product's media. 

You can automatically link a product or manually link a product. We walk through both methods on the tabs below.

Autolink Posts Manually Link Posts

You can automatically link a video to a product by including a # and the product's SKU in the post description (e.g., #SC1234, #sku1234, etc.). However, you'll want to ensure you've enabled the autolink settings on the Facebook section of the Social Setup page.

  1. On your Facebook page, select Photo/Video in the Create Post section.
  2. Add the product's video.
  3. In the post description, enter the product SKU (e.g., #A1234#978675, #sku1234). 
  4. Select Post (or schedule the post for a future date and time).

If you wish to verify whether a video post autolinked, select Posts on the side menu of your CommentSold dashboard. If the post is linked successfully, it will appear in the Facebook section. 

Create Automatic Videos from Live Sales


Retailers can choose to enable our Automatic Product Videos from Live Sales setting, which will take a snippet of when a specific product was featured in a live sale and attach it to the product's media in the retailer's webstore and mobile app.

  1. Select Setup in the side menu of your CommentSold dashboard.
  2. Select Shop from the menu at the top of the page.
  3. In the Selling Preferences section on the right side of the page, locate Automatic Product Videos from Live Sales.
  4. Select the toggle so it appears as Enabled.
  Note: This setting applies to all products, meaning any product you feature in a live sale will get an automatic product video. You can learn how to exclude a product from this process here.
