About Google Analytics
Google Analytics (GA) is a web analytics service that allows retailers to analyze data about their webstore visitors. This data provides valuable insights that can help retailers build their business strategies.
To track your webstore activity using Google Analytics, you'll need to first create your free Google Analytics account. Learn more here. Once you've created your account, you can add your tracking ID to CommentSold.
How Google Analytics Benefits Your Business
- Track the virtual locations your shoppers come from such as linked ads, social media, web searches, and more.
- Analyze your shoppers' behavior on your site–which pages they visit, how long they stay, and more.
- Gain insight on conversion rates.
Locate Your Google Analytics Tracking ID
- Select Admin in the bottom-left corner of your Google Analytics dashboard.
- In the Account drop-down, ensure you've selected your business.
- In the Property drop-down, ensure you've selected your webstore.
- Select Tracking Info in the Property column.
- Select Tracking Code.
- Copy the Tracking ID in the top-left corner. You'll need to enter this in CommentSold.
Add Your Tracking ID in CommentSold
- Select Site Creator in the side menu of your CommentSold dashboard.
- Select Settings at the top of your Site Creator.
- Select and expand the Marketing section in the side menu of your Site Creator.
- Select Ad Conversion Channels from the options listed.
- Select Google.
- In the Google Analytics section, paste your Tracking ID in the corresponding field.
- Select Update.
Enter Your Measurement Protocol API
For those retailers working with a third-party marketing partner, or those retailers with a strong understanding of Google Analytics, CommentSold allows you to enter your Measurement Protocol API. This API allows for more in-depth insight into customer purchase events.
Please contact CommentSold Support via the Support button in the bottom-right corner of your CommentSold dashboard to get this feature enabled.
You will create your Measurement Protocol API in your Google Analytics account.
- Select Admin at the bottom of the side menu of your Google Analytics dashboard.
- Select your account from the Account drop-down on the left side of the page.
- Select your GA4 property from the second drop-down in the middle of the page.
- Select Data Streams in the Property column.
- Select your webstore data stream.
- Locate and select Measurement Protocol API secrets.
- Select Create in the top-right corner of the page.
- Give your API a Name, then select Create.
- Once Google populates your API Key, select the Copy icon to the right of it to copy the API to your device clipboard.
- Select Site Creator in the side menu of your CommentSold dashboard.
- Select Settings at the top of your Site Creator.
- Select and expand the Marketing section in the side menu of your Site Creator.
- Select Ad Conversion Channels from the options listed.
- Select Google.
- In the Google Analytics section, paste your Measurement Protocol API Secret in the corresponding field.
- Select Update.
