What is a Live Takeover?

A Live Takeover is when someone other than the primary shop owner hosts or participates in a live sale. This could include:

  • A team member conducting the live sale independently.
  • A guest influencer or partner joining the live sale.
  • An employee or contractor hosting the sale on behalf of the shop.

CommentSold supports Live Takeovers in two ways depending on how you want to run the sale.

Taking Over a Live

Option 1: Add a Team Member to Host the Live Option 2: Invite a Guest Host with MultiSource Live

If someone needs to run the live sale directly from your CommentSold account, you can create a team member login with the correct permissions.

Add a Team Member

  1. Select Team from the side menu of your CommentSold dashboard.
  2. Select Add Member on the right side of the screen.
  3. Enter the team member’s Name, Email, and Password.
    • Passwords must be at least ten characters.
  4. Select the permissions they need for their role.
    • To grant full access, select All Permissions.
  5. Select Add User at the bottom of the page.
Important: Be sure to assign the correct permissions so the host can access live selling tools and related features.

Next Step

Once the team member has been added, they can log in and begin hosting live sales.

Reporting for Live Takeovers

The reporting you use depends on who hosted the live sale.

If Hosted by an Employee or Contractor

Use the following reports:

  • Live History
    • Locate the live sale to review performance metrics and insights.
  • Reporting > CSV > Report #11

This is useful for internal tracking and employee performance.

If Hosted by Another Business or Partner

Use the following reports:

  • Insights > Sell Through > Detailed Sell Through by SKU by Live Week Cohort
  • Reporting > CSV > Report #11

This helps identify item performance, sales totals, and information that may need to be shared with a partner later.

Best Practices for Live Takeovers

  • Confirm permissions before the live begins.
  • Test camera, microphone, and internet connection in advance.
  • Share expectations with guest hosts before going live.
  • Use reporting after the event to review performance and reconcile sales.
  • Run a short test live when using guest hosts for the first time.
