Meta Live Ads

Meta Live Ads (LVA) lets you turn a Facebook Live into a Facebook ad directly from CommentSold. You can boost a live while it’s running, schedule an ad for an upcoming live, pin products to the ad, and monitor ad engagement and performance from the CommentSold dashboard.

Coming Soon!

This feature is not yet available to all shops. Once released, you'll be able to create and manage Facebook Live ads directly from CommentSold, including boosting live streams, scheduling ads, pinning products, and tracking ad performance.

Before you start

Make sure the following are set up before using Meta Live Video Ads:

  • Your shop has access to the Live Video Ads feature.
  • You have connected your LVA Meta app through LiveSchedule Live Ads.
  • You have selected the Facebook Page you want to use for your ads.
  • For product pinning, your Facebook Page must have a published Meta Shop with a connected catalog and synced products. Products also need a fetchable image to be eligible for pinning.
  • To use the Increase Sales goal, you must have a conversion pixel and Shop Now link configured.
Note: The LVA Meta app is separate from the Facebook app used for harvesting comments and other Facebook integrations. Both apps can be connected to the same Facebook Page.

Connect Meta Live Ads

  1. Select Live from the side menu of your CommentSold dashboard.
  2. Select Schedule Live Ads from the option available at the top of the page.
  3. Log in using your Facebook Ad Account.
  4. Complete the Meta consent screen.
  5. Select the Facebook Page you want to use for Live Video Ads.
  6. Enable the selected Page.

If the selected Page doesn't match your shop's selling Page, CommentSold displays a warning.

Once connected, you can create ads when you start a live or schedule them ahead of an upcoming live.

Boost a Facebook Live

You can create an ad directly when starting a Facebook Live.

  1. Select Live from the side menu of your CommentSold dashboard.
  2. Start your Live.
  3. Enable the Boost Your Live toggle.
  4. In the go-live modal, enter your campaign details:
    • Select your Goal:
      1. Increase Video Views – Promotes the live to increase video views. No pixel or link is required.
      2. Increase Sales – Promotes the live with the goal of driving sales. A conversion pixel and Shop Now link are required.
    • Select the ad account you want to use.
    • Select county as US.
    • Select Minimum and Maximum Age.
    • Select the Regions you wish to target.
    • Set your ad budget. The minimum budget is $10.00.
    • Set the start time and end time.
      1. The start time must be in the future.
      2. The end time must be after the start time.
      3. Times use your shop's timezone.
    • Select the Call-to-action button and enter the Button link.
  5. Add the rest of your Live details.
  6. Once done, select Go Live and Start Ad.

The ad is automatically activated after it is created. CommentSold displays a success message with a link to Meta Ads Manager where you can review the ad.

Ad Account Selection

The ad account is selected for each individual ad. It will save the previous selection, so make sure you select the correct account when creating the ad.

Schedule an Ad for an Upcoming Live

  1. Select Live from the side menu of your CommentSold dashboard.
  2. Select Schedule Live Ads.
  3. Enter your campaign details:
    • Select your Goal:
      • Increase Video Views – Promotes the live to increase video views. No pixel or link is required.
      • Increase Sales – Promotes the live with the goal of driving sales. A conversion pixel and Shop Now link are required.
    • Select the ad account you want to use.
    • Select Live Video Location. Only Facebook is available at this time.
    • Select Live video Title and Description.
    • Set your ad budget. The minimum budget is $10.00.
    • Set the start time and end time.
      • The start time must be in the future.
      • The end time must be after the start time.
      • Times use your shop's timezone.
  4. Expand the Advanced tab.
    • Select county as US.
    • Select Minimum and Maximum Age.
    • Select the Regions you wish to target.
    • Select the Call-to-action button and enter the Button link.
  5. Once done, Select Schedule ad.

Meta requires the scheduled start time to be approximately 2–3 hours in the future. You can go live approximately 1 hour before to 20 minutes after the scheduled start time.

Important: Because of Meta's timing requirements, you can't create a scheduled ad and immediately go live with it in the same session.

Only one pending scheduled ad can be created at a time for a shop.

Pin Product During Live

Once your ad is running, you can feature products directly from the Live dashboard.

Automatically pin products

The Auto-pin products to Facebook option is enabled by default.

When you feature a product on camera, CommentSold automatically attempts to pin that product to your Facebook Live.

Manually pin products

You can also manually pin or unpin a product using the pin controls next to the product.

When you switch to another featured product, the previously pinned product is automatically unpinned.

Product pinning requirements

CommentSold only pins a product when it can confirm a matching product in your Facebook catalog.

If a catalog match can't be confirmed:

  • The product isn't pinned.
  • The pin button appears muted.
  • A tooltip explains that the product isn't available in the Facebook catalog.

This prevents CommentSold from accidentally displaying an unrelated product to shoppers.

Note: The product shown in the CommentSold video overlay is separate from the product pinned on Facebook. The overlay can show the featured product even when Meta can't find a matching catalog product to pin.

Monitor Live engagement and ad performance

While your Live is running, the Live dashboard displays engagement information, including:

  • Concurrent viewers
  • Total views
  • Reactions
  • Live comments

These metrics update during the broadcast and automatically stop updating when the Live ends.

You can also see a live snapshot of your ad performance, including:

  • Delivery status
  • Ad spend
  • Impressions
  • Reach

After the Live ends, additional performance data can include purchases and ROAS.

Note: Meta controls the availability and timing of real-time ad insights. Some metrics, including conversions and ROAS, may be delayed or provisional.

View boosted Lives in Live History

After a Live has been boosted, it displays an Ad boost badge in Live History. The CSV export also includes an indicator showing whether a Live had an associated boosted ad.

The Ad boost badge is currently informational and does not link to a dedicated reporting page.

Ad Statuses

Status Description
Paused The ad has been created on Meta but hasn't been activated.
Active The ad has been activated and is delivering.
Boost failed The Live ended or couldn't be connected to the ad before activation. The ad remains paused.
Ad boost The Live had an associated boosted ad. This appears as a badge in Live History.

Limitations

Keep the following limitations in mind when using Meta Live Video Ads:

  • Country targeting: Currently supports the United States only.
  • Scheduled ads: Meta requires approximately 2–3 hours of lead time and limits when you can go live relative to the scheduled start time.
  • Post-live reporting: A dedicated post-live reporting page isn't currently available in CommentSold. Post-live reporting is available externally through Looker.
  • Real-time comments: Comment delivery may use polling while the dedicated LVA Meta app is unpublished.
  • Ad insights: Real-time performance data is subject to Meta's API availability and may not update immediately.

Troubleshooting

If a product isn't being pinned to your Facebook Live:

  1. Confirm the product is synced to your Meta catalog.
  2. Confirm your Facebook Page has a published Meta Shop.
  3. Make sure the product has an available image.
  4. Check that CommentSold can find a matching catalog product.

If the product still can't be matched, CommentSold intentionally won't pin it rather than risk showing shoppers the wrong product.
