Want to fulfill multiple orders from a single customer more efficiently? With auto-combined shipping, you can package these orders in one shipment, saving time and money on labels for orders placed at different times in one convenient package.

Important: This article and fulfillment process is intended for those shops using standard CS fulfillment, not Flexlabels fulfillment.

Auto-combining orders lets you streamline your shipping process by combining multiple orders from the same customer and address into a single package. Save time, reduce costs, and deliver a more efficient shopping experience!

By combining multiple orders from a single shopper:

  • Shoppers receive all their items at once.
  • As a shop, you and your shoppers save on shipping fees by combining multiple orders into a single shipment.
  • Fewer packages to track and manage, making the shopping experience more seamless.

CommentSold partners with USPS to give you the ability to print shipping labels for customer orders.

Before you get started:

Note: Combining occurs at the shipping level, so orders still appear individually on your Orders page. CommentSold auto-combines multiple orders into one package to help you reduce shipping costs.

Step 1: Enable Combine Orders

For auto-combining orders to work, you must first enable Combine Orders on your Shipping Settings.

  1. Hover over the side menu of your CommentSold dashboard, then select Setup.
  2. Select Shipping from the options listed at the top of the page.
  3. Scroll down to locate Combine Orders and then enable the toggle.
  4. Enter a number for Max Items to Combine Per Order.
    • You might want to set a limit on combined items per order to manage shipping costs and packaging efficiency. For example, if shipping more than five items significantly increases shipping label costs, you can set the limit to five or fewer. This helps control expenses and ensures packages are a convenient size for handling and delivery.
  5. Select Save.
Note: If the number of items exceeds the Max Items to Combine Per Order, remaining items will be batched in an additional order.

Step 2: Process All Auto-Combined Orders

  1. Hover over the side menu of your CommentSold dashboard, then select Orders/Fulfillment.
  2. Select (1) Process All at the top of the page to process all open orders.
  3. Select OK in the pop-up to confirm.

Step 3: Create Labels For Auto-Combined Orders

Creating combined shipping labels requires all products to have accurate weights entered in their product records. If any product is missing a weight, add it before proceeding.

  1. Select (2) Create Labels at the top of the page.
  2. On this page, you’ll see multiple orders from a customer combined into one order. Select the checkbox to the left of each combined order for which you wish to print a shipping label.
  3. Next, enter each package's Length, Width, and Height dimensions in the fields provided.
    • Using a poly mailer? You can select the Is Poly Mailer? checkbox to remove the Height dimension field.
  4. Select Calculate Prices in the top-left corner of the order listing, then select OK in the fly-down. Prices will display in the Status column for the orders you selected.
  5. Select Confirm & Buy Labels.
  6. CommentSold will confirm the number of labels you wish to generate and the grand total of those labels in a pop-up. Select OK to confirm.

Step 4: Print Labels For Auto-Combined Orders

  1. Go back to your Orders page and select (4) Print Shipping.
  2. Print the labels.
    • If you're using a regular printer, ensure you've set your printer options to a Landscape orientation with zero (0) margins.
  3. Once you print the labels, select the green Mark Labels as Printed button and select OK in the pop-up to confirm. If left unselected, CommentSold will include the labels for re-print the next time you process orders.

Your team can use packing slips to gather all order items, scan and confirm them, pack them into appropriate packaging, and then attach the shipping labels to the package.

Custom Declaration for International Shipping

For international and APO/FPO addresses, shipping integrations with Shippo and Easypost include custom declarations. When creating a shipping label, if the address is detected as military or international (with international shipping enabled), the customs form is automatically generated. This ensures customs information is sent during label quotes and creation, streamlining the shipping process and ensuring compliance with international shipping regulations, without requiring any new steps from shops.

Do you offer local pickup? You’ll want to make sure you select (3) Print Local Pickup to print packing slips for local pickup orders  Learn more about how to offer local pickup here.

Step 4: Mark Auto-Combined Orders as Fulfilled

Once you print the labels, pack, and ship the auto-combined order, you can mark it as fulfilled in CommentSold.

Note that you’ll have to mark orders as fulfilled individually. CommentSold does not allow you to mark multiple orders as fulfilled in bulk, which is a safeguard to reduce the likelihood of mistakes.

  1. Hover over the side menu of your CommentSold dashboard, then select Orders/Fulfillment.
  2. Locate the order for which you printed a shipping label.
  3. Select the gift icon on the far right of the order.
    • Add a note. Enter a note for the order, if desired. Notes may be visible to customers depending on your shipping settings.
    • Notify Customer. Select this checkbox to notify the customer via email that you've fulfilled their order.
  4. Select Fulfill in the bottom-right corner of the pop-up and OK in the fly-down to confirm.

Repeat the above steps to mark each order as fulfilled.
