Key Features of Customer Segmentation for In-App Notifications


Here are the features of Customer Segmentation for targeted in-app notifications.

Customer personas Find built-in Customer Personas under the Customer Segmentation insights. These auto-generated personas provide insights into your main customer segments, which you can use for targeted in-app messaging without needing to create additional custom tags. Note: persona data will be updated twice during code freeze (on 11/19 & 11/26) and update automatically thereafter. Learn more about Customer Segmentation insights, here.

Customizable VIP tiers Set up VIP tiers in Klaviyo, allowing up to three tiers with custom names like Diamond VIP or Gold VIP. Use these tiers to personalize notifications based on loyalty levels, ensuring high-value customers feel appreciated.

Multi-select notifications for broader targeting With multi-select notifications, you can reach multiple customer groups in a single campaign:
  • VIP Tiers: Notify specific VIP levels about exclusive offers.
  • Customer Personas: Use auto-generated personas for tailored updates.
  • Custom Tags: Send relevant notifications to groups based on their custom tags.
  • Product Waitlist/Favorites List: Keep customers updated when their waitlisted or favorite items are available again.

Auto-Generated Tags Customer tags are automatically managed based on your VIP tier settings. 
  • When a customer meets the criteria for a specific VIP tier, a tag is instantly added to their profile, highlighting their status. 
  • If a customer no longer qualifies for that tier, the tag is automatically removed, keeping their profile up-to-date without any manual effort.

Create and sync tags with Klaviyo for targeted email campaigns Customer tags created in-app can be synced with Klaviyo for email campaigns, allowing you to leverage these segments in your email marketing efforts. 

CSV import for bulk customer tags Use the CSV import feature to apply tags to multiple customers at once, saving time and streamlining large group organization.

 

Customize VIP Tiers


  1. Hover over the side menu of your CommentSold dashboard, then select Setup.
  2. Select the Shop tab from the option listed at the top of the page.
  3. Scroll down and look for VIP Customers. If the toggle is not enabled, you must enable it to set up VIP tiers.
  4. Enable the number of desired VIP tiers. The maximum limit is up to three tiers.
  5. Customize VIP tiers:
    • Tier Name. Enter a name for the VIP tier. For example, Diamond, Gold and Silver.
    • Tier Amount. Enter the minimum amount a customer must spend within 30 days to qualify for this VIP tier.
  6. Enable the Highlight VIP Customers toggle if you want to highlight these customers on the Live overview or while viewing the Orders/Fulfillment page.
  7. Once done, select Update.

Import Customer Tags


You can easily bulk-import custom tags on the Customer page.

  1. Hover over the side menu of your CommentSold dashboard, then select Customers.
  2. Select the Import Customer Tags via CSV button at the top of the page.
  3. Select Browse Files to upload the CSV file with customer tags. 
    • CSV File Requirements - Customer ID (required), Customer Name (optional), Custom Tags (Add multiple tags per entry, separated by commas).
  4. Select an Output Option:
    • Append. Add new tags to existing custom tags.
    • Overwrite. Replace all existing tags with the imported tags.
  5. Select Apply.
Note: If there’s an error in the CSV file, that specific customer entry will be skipped, allowing the rest of the entries to process smoothly.

Filter by Auto-Generated and Custom Tags on the Customer List


  1. Hover over the side menu of your CommentSold dashboard, then select Customers.
  2. Select the Filter option.
  3. Add your desired filters:
    • Forced First Paid First Serve. Enable to ensure orders are fulfilled in the order payments are received, prioritizing paid orders first.
    • Include Customer Tags. Select specific Auto-generated or Custom tags from the list to include customers with those tags.
    • Exclude Customer Tags. Select specific Auto-generated or Custom tags to exclude customers with those tags.
  4. Once done, select Apply.

Note: Tags selected in the Include or Exclude sections work together, while selections between Include, Exclude, and First Paid First Serve sections apply together for precise customer filtering. 

Filter Logic:

  • OR logic applies within the Include or Exclude sections.
  • AND logic applies between Include, Exclude, and First Paid First Serve sections.

Send Notification to Customers Within a Customer Segment or Product List


You can send targeted mobile notifications to customers based on specific tags, VIP tiers, personas, or their interactions with products on your waitlist or favorites list.

Option 1: For Customer Segments Option 2: For Product Lists

  1. Hover over the side menu of your CommentSold dashboard, then select Mobile App.
  2. Select Mobile Notifications tab from the options listed above.
  3. Select Customer Segments under Notification Target Group.
  4. Select your desired Target Groups.
    • Use the dropdown to select relevant Personas, VIP Tiers, or Tags. Each option is multi-select, so you can choose multiple segments to broaden your reach.
  5. Select your desired Personas, VIP Tiers, or Tags.
    • Under each segment type, a dropdown with available Personas, VIP Tiers, or Tags will appear. Select any specifics you wish to include, with the option to select multiple tags.
  6. Enter a Notification Title and Description.
  7. Schedule the notification if desired and select Send.

You can still send notifications to All Customers, Customers with Carted Items, or immediately send or schedule notifications based on your needs.
