Understanding Free Shipping Window Behaviors

What is the Free Shipping Window?

Available in your settings under Setup>Shipping, this feature allows shoppers to receive free shipping on the next order if the current order meets the criteria set.

What will trigger the Free Shipping Window?

This varies depending on your settings, but here are some universal triggers:

  • The order amount meets or exceeds the amount set in the Free Shipping Window Minimum field under Setup > Shipping. (Note: dropship products do not count toward the minimum.)
  • The customer has an address in their customer account under the Customers tab. (Not just in the order)
  • The delivery address for the order and the customer account match.
  • Customers using Apple Pay without Guest checkout.
  • When Apple Pay is used, we don't check the street address of the previous order to qualify for free shipping.
  • The customer must have a previous order placed within the set timeframe to trigger free shipping on a subsequent order (keeping the free shipping window open).
  • The order does not contain dropship items.

Does the customer have to pay shipping on their first order for the free shipping window to trigger?

No.

  • Suppose the order meets the Free Shipping Minimum. In that case, the customer will receive free shipping, and the Free Shipping Window will be opened, allowing them to enjoy free shipping on their next order within the Free Shipping Window timeframe.
  • Suppose the customer uses a free shipping coupon. In that case, the customer will get free shipping, and the Free Shipping Window will be opened, allowing them to get free shipping on their next order within the Free Shipping Window timeframe.
