Many shops use Facebook ads to drive traffic to their mobile app. Whether shops want followers to download the app or make a purchase via the app, tracking this traffic gives shops actionable insight into the effectiveness of their ads.

It's important to ensure ads accurately track traffic to your mobile app. We've designed this article to walk through some troubleshooting steps to help you resolve issues your shop might be experiencing with tracking mobile app traffic via Facebook ads.

Did You Create the Necessary Facebook Accounts?


First, verify that you have created and set up the following Facebook accounts:

Did You Connect Your Mobile App to Facebook?


Ensure you've added both the iOS and Android versions of your mobile app to your Facebook Developer account. You can follow the directions below:

Step 1: Add Your App Step 2: Add Android as a Platform Step 3: Add iOS as a Platform

  1. Log into your Facebook Developer account.
  2. Select My Apps in the top-right corner of the page, then select Create App.
  3. On the Select App Type pop-up, select Business.
  4. Enter the App Name
  5. Select your Business Manager account from the drop-down menu.
    • While Facebook says this is optional, you should not skip this step. You'll need this connection to run ads for your app. 
  6. Select Create App.
  7. Select Settings in the side menu on your App Dashboard, then select Basic. 
  8. In the Privacy Policy URL section, enter this URL https://commentsold.com/privacy_policy.

Did You Add Your Facebook App ID to CommentSold?


Once you have your Facebook app ID, you can add it to the Settings tab of the Mobile App page in CommentSold.

  1. Copy your App ID on your Facebook Developer dashboard. 
  2. On your CommentSold dashboard, select Mobile App in the side menu.
  3. Select Settings from the menu at the top of the page.
  4. In the Facebook Analytics / Ad Tracking section, paste your Facebook app ID in the Facebook App ID field.
  5. Select Save.

Did You Link Your OCE and System User ID in CommentSold?


Ensure that you've created your Offline Conversion Event (OCE) Pixel in your Facebook Business Manager account and have linked it to your CommentSold dashboard.

  1. In your Facebook Events Manager, select Connect Data Sources in the side menu.
  2. Select Offline from the options listed, then select Continue.
  3. Name the OCE Pixel.
  4. Select which account(s) will track ad performance using this Offline Event Set.
  5. Select Next.
