Here are 10 segments you should create and use when sending email and SMS campaigns within Klaviyo for general targeting.

Engaged on Email or Shop in the Last 60 Days (Can Receive Email)
- Definition. Receives email marketing AND clicked an email at least once in the last 60 days OR viewed a product at least once in the last 60 days.
- Description. These people engage with your shop and/or email marketing and can receive your emails.
- Purpose. Include this segment in general email campaigns to target people who have recently engaged with you.
Engaged on SMS or Shop in the Last 60 Days (Can Receive SMS)
- Definition. Receives SMS marketing AND clicked an SMS at least once in the last 60 days OR viewed a product at least once in the last 60 days.
- Description. These people engage with your shop and/or SMS marketing and can receive your texts.
- Purpose. Include this segment in general SMS campaigns to target people who have recently engaged with you.
New Email Subscribers from the Last 90 Days
- Definition. Receives email marketing because they subscribed within the last 90 days OR are on the CS Email Integration list and were added in the last 90 days OR joined at least once in the last 90 days AND can receive email marketing.
- Description. These people have opted into email marketing or created a CommentSold account in the last three months and can receive your emails.
- Purpose. Include this segment in general email campaigns to target recent subscribers.
- Note. Use the list connected to your CommentSold Email integration.
New SMS Subscribers from the Last 90 Days
- Definition. Receives SMS marketing and subscribed within the last 90 days OR are on the CS SMS Integration list and were added in the last 90 days OR joined at least once in the last 90 days AND can receive SMS marketing.
- Description. These people have opted into SMS marketing or created a CommentSold account in the last three months and can receive your texts.
- Purpose. Include this segment in general SMS campaigns to target recent subscribers.
- Note. Use the list connected to your CommentSold SMS integration.
Prefers Email Over SMS
- Definition. Receives both email and SMS marketing AND received an SMS at least once in the last 30 days but clicked zero times AND clicked an email at least once in the last 30 days.
- Description. These people are opted into both email and SMS marketing but engage more with emails.
- Purpose. Include this segment in email campaigns and exclude them from SMS campaigns to target them via their preferred method.
Prefers SMS Over Email
- Definition. Receives both email and SMS marketing AND received an email at least once in the last 30 days but clicked zero times AND clicked an SMS at least once in the last 30 days.
- Description. These people are opted into both email and SMS marketing but engage more with texts.
- Purpose. Include this segment in SMS campaigns and exclude them from email campaigns to target them via their preferred method.
Bounced Emails
- Definition. Bounced email at least once over all time where Bounce Type equals Hard OR bounced email at least 3 times over all time where Bounce Type equals Soft.
- Description. These profiles cannot receive your emails due to undeliverable email addresses.
- Purpose. Exclude this segment from every email campaign to avoid paying for undeliverable emails and to improve your open rate.
Unengaged Email Openers
- Definition. Received at least 20 emails over all time AND opened zero times over all time.
- Description. These people have received many emails but have never opened any.
- Purpose. Exclude this segment from email campaigns to avoid sending to unengaged users and to improve your open rate.
Unengaged Email Clickers
- Definition. Received at least 30 emails over all time AND clicked zero times over all time.
- Description. These people have received many emails but have never clicked any.
- Purpose. Exclude this segment from email campaigns to avoid sending to unengaged users and to improve your click rate.
Unengaged SMS Clickers
- Definition. Received at least 20 texts over all time AND clicked zero times over all time.
- Description. These people have received many texts but have never clicked any.
- Purpose. Exclude this segment from SMS campaigns to avoid sending to unengaged users and to improve your click rate.
