Key Focus Date and Compared To Date Summary Metrics

Quick View Insights gives you the ability to compare data between any two dates or date ranges you select. These comparisons let you assess your store's performance across different time periods.

  • Key Focus Date: The date range you are currently focusing on.
  • Compared To Date: The date range used for comparison, helping you evaluate performance changes.

You can use these date comparisons to monitor growth trends, assess the impact of marketing campaigns, or identify seasonality patterns in your sales.

Data Set Information Displayed How You Can Use It
Orders This tile shows the total number of orders placed within the selected timeframe. Orders include all purchases made through various sales channels, but this metric is not filterable using the Source filter. Tracking order volume helps you understand sales trends, peak shopping times, and overall business performance. A sudden drop may indicate technical issues or changes in customer behavior.
Gross Sales The total revenue generated from product sales before accounting for any discounts, refunds, or additional fees. This represents the product revenue at the time of sale. Gross Sales gives a high-level view of your store’s revenue. Comparing this to Net Sales helps you assess the impact of discounts and refunds on your bottom line.
Net Sales This is the revenue from sales after deducting discounts and refunds. Refund calculations are based on the return date. Discounts include account credit applied as well as coupon discounts. Net Sales provides a clearer picture of how much money your store is actually generating from product sales. Tracking this metric over time helps measure business growth and discount effectiveness.
Total Sales Net Sales plus additional revenue from shipping, taxes, and partner fees. Partner fees include any additional fees a customer pays towards their order total for our partner services. Currently that will include Seel and Redo fees, if applicable. Total Sales reflects the final revenue after factoring in all additional costs and income. Monitoring this number helps in understanding how shipping and taxes contribute to overall revenue.
Gross Margin The profit remaining after subtracting the Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) from Net Sales. This represents the absolute dollar amount of profit before factoring in operating expenses. A higher Gross Margin indicates strong profitability per product. If margins are low, consider adjusting pricing or sourcing more cost-effective inventory.
Gross Margin % This percentage is calculated by dividing Gross Margin by Net Sales. It represents the profit earned on each dollar of sales. This percentage is useful for comparing profitability across time periods or product lines. A declining Gross Margin % may indicate increased costs or overuse of discounts.

Hour of Day Metrics

This section breaks down key sales and engagement metrics by the hour in the Central Timezone. Order counts are not filterable by source.

For date ranges of more than one day, the data reflects the average per hour—this is noted in the hover icon. Metrics in the chart update every two hours, so recent changes may take time to appear.

Data Set Information Displayed How You Can Use It
Order Count by Hour of Day

The Order Count by Hour of Day chart provides insight into when customers are placing their orders, helping you identify peak hours throughout the day. The chart displays orders by the hour.

Note: Cumulative order counts are displayed in the tile to the right, while this chart focuses on order trends by hour. You can use both to track how orders and revenue build up throughout the day.

This helps you pinpoint when your sales activity spikes. Understand customer behavior–If certain hours are underperforming, you can consider adjusting promotions or campaigns to drive sales during slower hours.
Net Sales by Hour of Day

This insight shows how Net Sales vary by hour, helping you identify which hours contribute the most to your revenue. The chart tracks sales trends throughout the day.

Note: Cumulative Net Sales are displayed in the tile to the right, allowing you to see how revenue builds up over the course of the day. Use both metrics together for a deeper understanding of hourly sales performance.

Net Sales by hour helps you adjust pricing strategies, run promotions, or target specific hours where your business could benefit from higher sales. It’s essential for time-sensitive campaigns or flash sales.

Key Focus Date and Compared To Date Detailed Metrics

This section of Quick View Insights provides a side-by-side comparison of key sales and performance metrics for a selected focus date and a comparison date, helping you analyze trends and performance changes over time.

Use this section to drill into summary metrics and view itemized data, giving you a more detailed breakdown of sales performance and customer behavior.

Detailed Time Series Metrics (Not Filterable by Source)

This section of Quick View Insights gives you detailed charts already broken down by source (so they are not further filterable by source) but are filterable by the time series and provide a comprehensive look at overall daily metrics.

  • Drill into the following graphs for item-level sales exports:
    • Item Count by Source
    • Gross Sales by Source ($)
    • Gross Sales by Source (%)

How Are Sources Assigned?

Source is determined at the item level based on the following rules. The sequence below reflects priority—an item is assigned to the first applicable source (e.g., if carted on a mobile app during a live sale, it is categorized as Live).

  • Live – Carted during a Live Sale (Both Mobile and Webstore Live Sale)
  • Live Replay – Carted during a Live Replay
  • PopClips – Carted from a Mobile App Popclip
  • Webstore – Carted on the Webstore
  • TikTok – Carted on TikTok
  • Mobile – Carted on the Mobile App
  • Meta Shop – Carted in Meta Shop (Meta Commerce Platform)
  • POS – Purchased through the Point of Sale system
  • Admin – Carted by a Shop Admin
  • Other – Includes all other carting platforms or experiences
Take Action
  • Optimize Sales by Time: Review your Order Counts by Hour of Day and Net Sales by Hour of Day to identify peak hours. Consider scheduling flash sales or promotions during low-performing hours to drive traffic.
  • Analyze Sales Performance by Source: Look at Net Sales by Source and Gross Sales by Source to understand where your most profitable sales are coming from. If one channel underperforms, plan targeted marketing strategies to improve sales from that source.
  • Focus on Gross Margin: Keep an eye on Gross Margin by Source and consider adjusting prices for channels or products with low margins. Aiming for healthy margins is crucial for long-term business growth.
  • Track Growth Over Time: Use the Key Focus Date vs. Compared to Date summary metrics to track the impact of your marketing campaigns, seasonal trends, or promotions.
  • Reduce Refunds and Discounts: Monitor your Net Sales by Source and Gross Margin to identify any channels where refunds or excessive discounts are hurting profitability. Consider revising your return policies or limiting discounting strategies.
