About Posting Products to Facebook
Facebook posts are public messages that an individual posts to a Facebook group or page. For shops, posts can help create brand awareness for their target audience.
When shops link a Facebook post to a product in CommentSold, they give shoppers the opportunity to easily claim and cart the product through a comment (e.g, "SOLD"). There are a few ways to link Facebook posts to products. We talk through these options in this article.
How Posting Products to Facebook Benefits Your Shop
- Create engaging posts that entice shoppers to purchase products from your shop.
- Automatically invoice shoppers for products they claim on linked posts.
- Use Facebook product tagging for posts you create on your Facebook page.
- Shoppers can share your product posts, potentially increasing engagement, reach, and brand awareness.
Automatically Link Posts with Autolinking
Autolinking automatically connects posts made on Facebook to products in CommentSold if the post description includes the product’s SKU (e.g., #A1234, #978675). To use autolinking, you'll need to first enable the setting in CommentSold.
- Select Social Setup in the side menu of your CommentSold dashboard.
- Under the Facebook section, locate Autolink to post and select the Disabled/Enabled toggle to appear Enabled.
- If you wish to link multiple items to a single Facebook post, scroll and locate Auto link Posts to Product Selections and select the Disabled/Enabled toggle to appear Enabled.
Once you have enabled autolinking, you can create your Facebook post.
- On your Facebook page or group, start a new post.
- Add the product's video or photo and add/edit the post description. You must include the product SKU in your description order for the post to automatically link (e.g., #A1234, #978675).
- Want to download a product photo from CommentSold? Locate the product and select the three dots to the far right of the product row. Select Download Image. The main image for the product will download to your device. This only works for images, not videos.
- Want to copy the product description from CommentSold? Locate the product and select the three dots to the far right of the product row. Select Copy Text. You can paste the text into your post and make edits as needed. Don't forget the SKU!
- Once you finish editing your post, select Post (or schedule the post for a future date and time).
- You can verify whether a product autolinked once the post publishes. Select Posts on the side menu of your CommentSold dashboard. If the post is linked successfully, it will appear in the Facebook section.
Manually Link a Facebook Post
Manual linking allows you to create a post on Facebook and link a product without including the product SKU (e.g., #A1234, #978675) in the post description.
This method requires additional steps in CommentSold once you have published the post on Facebook.
- On your Facebook page or group, start a new post.
- Add the product's video or photo and add/edit the post description.
- Want to download a product photo from CommentSold? Locate the product and select the three dots to the far right of the product row. Select Download Image. The main image for the product will download to your device. This only works for images, not videos.
- Want to copy the product description from CommentSold? Locate the product and select the three dots to the far right of the product row. Select Copy Text. You can paste the text into your post and make edits as needed.
- Once you finish editing your post and adding an image/video, select Post (or schedule the post for a future date and time).
- On your CommentSold tab, select Products in the side menu.
- Locate the posted product and select the three dots to the far right of the product row.
- Select Link to Post and in the pop-up, select your preferences:
- Post to Instagram? Select this checkbox to create a duplicate post on Instagram. You will need to connect your Instagram account to CommentSold if you haven't already.
- Post to App? Select this checkbox to post the product to your mobile app.
- Hide from your app’s main feed? Select this checkbox if you wish to hide the product post from your mobile app’s main feed. The product will still appear in collections or when a shopper searches for it on your mobile app.
- Send the notification? Select this checkbox to send a mobile app notification.
- Notification Title. Enter the title for your mobile app notification message. Your shop name appears by default unless you entered a preferred App Notification Title on the Edit Product page.
- Notification Body. Enter the mobile app notification message. There’s a new item in your feed! appears by default unless you entered a preferred App Notification Body message on the Edit Product page.
- After selecting your preferences, locate the post on the Page and/or Group tabs at the bottom of the popup.
- Select Link.
- You can verify a linked post by selecting Posts in the side menu of your CommentSold dashboard. If the post is linked successfully, it will appear in the Facebook section.
Post Directly to Facebook from CommentSold
Posting directly to Facebook from CommentSold allows you to create and schedule posts without leaving your CommentSold account. This method only allows for single image posting, not video posts.
- Select Products in the side menu of your CommentSold dashboard.
- Locate the product you wish to post and select the three dots on the far side of the product row.
- Select Post to Facebook.
- Enter the post details:
- Facebook Group or Page. Select whether to post to your Facebook group or Facebook page.
- Post As Group Admin or Linked Page. Select whether you are posting as the group admin or your shop's Facebook page.
- If you are posting to your page, select Linked Page.
- If posting to your group, then posting as the Linked Page sends a private message to any shoppers without a confirmed CommentSold account. This message will contain a call-to-action and a link that will automatically confirm their account.
- Note: To select Linked Page, your page must be connected to your group. Learn how to connect your Facebook group and page here.
- Post Message. Enter your post description. CommentSold will use the main image for the product as the post image.
- Schedule Timing. Choose whether to post immediately or at a future time. Post times are based on the Shop Time Zone you select on the Shop tab of your Setup page.
- Post Comment (optional). Add information or a link as the first comment on the post once it publishes. This is helpful if you wish to direct shoppers to your webstore or tell them how to register.
- App Notification Title. Enter the title for your mobile app notification message. Your shop name appears by default unless you entered a preferred App Notification Title on the Edit Product page.
- App Notification Body. Enter the mobile app notification message. There’s a new item in your feed! appears by default unless you entered a preferred App Notification Body message on the Edit Product page.
- Send the Notification. Select this checkbox if you wish to send a mobile app notification.
- Post to Instagram. Select this checkbox if you wish to post the product on your Instagram page. Don’t see this box? Make sure you've connected Instagram to CommentSold.
- Post to App? Select this checkbox to post the product to your mobile app.
- Hide from your app’s main feed? Select this checkbox if you wish to hide the product post from your mobile app’s main feed. The product will still appear in collections or when a shopper searches for it on your mobile app.
- Select Submit to Facebook.
Schedule Posts through CommentSold
CommentSold Auto Scheduler automates the reposting of sales posts to your Facebook group(s).
Scheduling from another platform? While you can use third-party platforms to schedule posts for Facebook (e.g., Meta Business Suite), we cannot guarantee that autolinked posts will always link successfully. We recommend either checking for successful linking after the post publishes or scheduling posts directly from CommentSold or your Facebook group/page.
- Select Setup in the side menu of your CommentSold dashboard.
- Select Auto Scheduler in the menu at the top of the page.
- Select Enable Auto Scheduler.
- Enter your criteria for Auto Scheduler qualified posts.
- Minimum quantity. The minimum amount of stock a product must have in order for CommentSold to post.
- Minimum days. The minimum number of days since the last post or repost.
- Enter your preferred sharing times and enabled group(s).
- Schedule time(s). The time(s) for daily schedule reposts. CommentSold schedules a single post for each time added. If you want multiple qualifying posts in a day, then add additional reposting times.
- Facebook Groups. Select Enable Repost for each group where you want posts reposted. Reposts are scheduled to the same group as the original post.
Once you've entered your criteria, Auto Scheduler will check previous group posts at midnight each night. Enabled group posts that meet the criteria are scheduled to automatically repost at the designated time(s).
