AI Metering: AI Credits, Plans, Upgrades, and Billing

AI Metering tracks how your shop uses AI features in CommentSold. Bestie and AI Product Creator use AI credits from the same monthly credit pool. Your Advanced AI tier determines your monthly AI credits, available AI features, and plan cost.

What is AI Metering?

AI Metering is CommentSold's system for measuring and managing AI usage.

Every AI request made through Bestie or AI Product Creator uses AI credits from your shop's monthly allocation. Your AI credits reset at the beginning of each billing period.

Your Advanced AI plan determines:

How many AI credits your shop receives each billing period.
Which AI features are available.
Whether features such as Bestie, Product Creator, MCP, and Open API access are included.
Your subscription price and applicable commission rate.

If your shop does not have an AI-enabled plan or available AI credits, AI requests cannot be processed.

Note: To use Bestie or the MCP connector, your shop must be on a CommentSold plan that includes Advanced AI.

How do AI credits work?

AI credits are your shop's monthly allowance for Bestie and AI Product Creator usage in CommentSold. Requests made through Bestie consume credits from your shop's available AI credit pool.

The MCP connector does not normally use your shop's CommentSold AI credits. When you use MCP through an AI application such as Claude or ChatGPT, the AI usage is generally billed against that application's own AI account or plan.

AI credits:

Are provided according to your Advanced AI tier.
Are used by Bestie and Product Creator for supported AI requests.
Reset at the beginning of each billing period.
Do not roll over to the next billing period.
Cannot be used after your available balance reaches zero until the credits reset or your plan is upgraded.

Does MCP use CommentSold AI credits?

Generally, no. MCP uses the AI credits or usage allowance associated with your connected AI application, such as Claude or ChatGPT, rather than your shop's CommentSold AI credit pool.

There is one exception: on the highest CommentSold subscription plan, MCP can use CommentSold AI credits when performing Enhanced Customer Analytics. This is currently the only MCP use case that consumes CommentSold AI credits.

Example: If you use MCP through ChatGPT to perform a standard supported task, that usage comes from your ChatGPT account's AI allowance. If MCP performs Enhanced Customer Analytics on the highest CommentSold subscription plan, the applicable usage can consume your shop's CommentSold AI credits.

What happens when I run out of AI credits?

When your shop uses all available AI credits, additional AI requests are denied until one of the following happens:

Your next billing period begins, and your credits reset.
You upgrade to an AI tier with a larger credit allowance.

Advanced AI plan tiers

Advanced AI is available in multiple tiers. Higher tiers provide more monthly AI credits and may unlock additional features. Check out the pricing here.

How do I upgrade my AI plan?

You can upgrade to a higher AI tier from Setup > Account.

What happens to my AI credits when I upgrade?

When you upgrade to a higher AI tier during a billing period:

Your new plan takes effect immediately.
Your AI credit allowance changes to the new tier immediately.
You are charged the prorated difference for the remainder of the current billing period.
Your next invoice reflects the full monthly price of the new plan.
Unused credits from the previous tier do not carry over.
Your new commission rate applies to sales processed after the upgrade and is not applied retroactively.

How does AI plan proration work?

CommentSold prorates a mid-cycle upgrade based on the remaining portion of your current billing period.

Example: If you upgrade halfway through your billing cycle, you are charged only the applicable difference for the remaining half of that cycle. Starting with the next billing period, you are charged the full monthly price of your new plan.

How do I view my subscription history?

You can review previous subscription changes from your CommentSold account.

Select Setup from the side menu of your CommentSold dashboard.
Select Account from the options available at the top of the page.
Scroll to Subscription History.
Review previous plan changes, including the date, subscription price, commission rate, and applicable add-ons.
Select Export CSV if you want to download your subscription history.

How do I view my invoices and prorated charges?

To review individual subscription charges:

Select Setup from the side menu of your CommentSold dashboard.
Select Account from the options available at the top of the page.
Select View Billing History.

You can also go to Setup > My Invoices > Subscription Plan.

Billing history can include:

Regular subscription charges.
Prorated charges from plan upgrades.
Payment method information.
Payment status.

How do Bestie, Product Creator, and the MCP connector use AI credits?

Bestie and Product Creator use the same AI credit pool for your shop.

Both access the same underlying AI tools and consume credits from your shop's available AI allocation.

Depending on the tools available to your plan, you can use AI to perform tasks such as:

Check inventory.
Review sales information.
Pull reports.
Manage customers.
Create coupons.
Perform other supported shop-management tasks using conversational requests.

MCP uses the AI credits or usage allowance associated with your connected AI application, such as Claude or ChatGPT, rather than your shop's CommentSold AI credit pool.

Is Bestie customer-facing?

No. Bestie and the MCP connector are intended for shop staff and shop management. Customers cannot use these tools to manage or access your shop.

Is my shop's data used to train AI models?

No. CommentSold does not use your prompts or shop data to train AI models.

What happens if my shop does not have AI credits?

If your shop has not been granted AI credits, for example, because it is not on an AI-enabled plan, AI requests are denied.

To access AI features, your shop must have an applicable Advanced AI plan or have AI credits added to the account.

AI Metering limitations

Keep the following limitations in mind:

Credits do not roll over. Unused AI credits expire when the billing period ends.
Credits reset monthly. Your allocation resets at the beginning of each billing period.
Upgrades are immediate. A higher AI tier becomes active when the upgrade is confirmed.
Mid-cycle upgrades are prorated. You pay the applicable prorated difference for the remainder of the current billing period.
Pricing can vary by shop. AI pricing and commission rates may depend on your existing CommentSold subscription or custom agreement.
AI access depends on your plan. Not every CommentSold plan includes the same AI features or credit allocation.

Does upgrading my AI plan give me more credits immediately?

Yes. When you confirm an eligible upgrade, your new plan takes effect immediately and your AI credit allocation updates to the new tier.

Will I be charged immediately if I upgrade my AI plan?

Yes. A mid-cycle upgrade results in a prorated charge for the remainder of the current billing period. Your next billing cycle is charged at the full monthly price of the new plan.

Do unused credits from my old plan transfer when I upgrade?

No. Unused AI credits from your previous tier do not roll over when you upgrade.

Does my new commission rate apply to previous sales?

No. The new commission rate applies to sales processed after the plan change. It is not applied retroactively.

Can I use Bestie through ChatGPT or Claude?

Yes. The MCP connector currently supports ChatGPT and Claude, allowing you to access supported CommentSold AI capabilities through those applications.

Can customers access Bestie?

No. Bestie and the MCP connector are designed for shop staff and shop management, not customers.

Is my shop data used to train AI models?

No. CommentSold does not use your prompts or shop data to train AI models.

Where can I see my subscription history?

Go to Setup > Account and scroll to Subscription History. You can view previous plan changes and export the history as a CSV file.

Where can I see my prorated upgrade charge?

Go to Setup > Account > View Billing History, or Setup > My Invoices > Subscription Plan. Prorated upgrade charges appear with your other subscription billing information.
