On June 5, 2023, Meta will automatically update all Facebook pages to the new Pages experience and no longer support certain features. Our Support team has identified 3 unannounced changes with the new Facebook Pages experience that may impact you:
Change | What does this mean for my business? |
Meta will no longer support Messenger replies for Group posts and comments. The post/comment must be on the Business page. |
If you broadcast your live sale on Facebook, this update will impact your ability to send checkout links via direct messages to shoppers who comment "Sold X" on a live sale post. Because automatic comment replies are also inconsistent with the New Pages experience, we recommend pinning a link to your CommentSold website in the comments of your live sale post. Given these changes, we are also exploring modifications to our Facebook overlay to minimize shopper confusion and optimize their experience. Learn how to pin a link in the Pin Your Website Link in Your Facebook Live Sale Post section below. |
Meta will no longer officially support going live as a Page within a Facebook Group. |
As Meta will no longer officially support going live as a Page in a Facebook Group, we are disabling this toggle from CommentSold. Instead, you will now need to go live in your Facebook Group as the Admin. This is the default option when going live to a Facebook Group, and no further action is needed to enable it. |
The new Pages experience may unlink your Page from your Facebook Group if you have enabled an Age Restriction. |
If your Page and Group become unlinked, you likely need to remove any Age Restriction you have enabled in your Shop Settings before you’ll see the option to link them again. We walk through this process in the Remove Age Restrictions section below. |
Pin Your CommentSold Link in Your Facebook Live Sale Post
For the best shopping experience for your viewers, we recommend pinning a comment with a link for shoppers to purchase from the live sale via your CommentSold website or app. To ensure carting works properly from Facebook, it is important to only use the CommentSold website link (your website /live) or a link to your CommentSold mobile app. This will provide the most consistent checkout experience for shoppers watching on Facebook.
We walk through this process on the below tabs:
Facebook’s new Pages experience will not change the process you follow within CommentSold to broadcast your live sale on your Facebook page and/or group.
You can start a live sale and broadcast it to your Facebook page and/or group using the steps outlined here.
Since you will be directing shoppers to your CommentSold link, you want to make sure you go live on your Facebook page and/or group and your website or app. Additionally, you can choose to include the link in the Post Description field. This will add the link to the live sale’s post description.
Once you are live on Facebook, you can head to your Facebook page to pin a link to your CommentSold website or app in the comments of your live sale post.
A pinned comment will stay at the top of the comment feed, making it easier for shoppers to see the comment, read it, and click the link.
- Navigate to your Facebook page and/or group.
- Locate your live sale post.
- Hover over the video and select the Enlarge icon in the bottom-right corner of the video window.
- Enter your comment message and link in the Write a comment… field, then post it.
- Select Pin beneath your posted comment.
Once pinned, the comment will appear at the top of the comment feed.
Given these changes, we are also exploring modifications to our Facebook overlay to minimize shopper confusion and optimize their experience.
When your shoppers tune into your live sale on Facebook, they’ll see your pinned comment with your CommentSold link at the top of the post’s comment feed. If you included your website or app link in your post description (when starting your live sale in CommentSold), then your shoppers will also see that link.
Once they click it, they’ll be taken to your website or app where they can watch your live sale, view product details, cart products, interact with your team, and complete their checkout.
Remove Age Restrictions
Facebook’s new Pages experience may unlink your Page from your Facebook Group if you have an Age Restriction enabled. If this happens, you likely need to remove any Age Restriction you have enabled before you’ll see the option to link your group and page again.
- Log into Facebook, then click your profile photo in the top-right corner of the page.
- Select See all Profiles, then select the Page you want to link.
- Select your Page’s profile picture in the top-right corner of the page.
- Select Settings & privacy, then select Settings.
- Select Privacy in the side menu, then select Public Posts.
- Locate Age Restrictions and select Edit.
- Select Public to remove any active Age Restrictions.
- Select Save.
