Want to give shoppers more flexibility at checkout with a "Buy Now, Pay Later" payment option? Read on to learn how!

With Affirm, shoppers can pay for their purchases over 3 to 36 months, or in 4 interest-free payments made every two weeks,  without affecting their  credit.

This can help increase your overall revenue and overall customer retention. CommentSold data shows customers are 21% more likely to make repeat purchases from a shop using "buy now, pay later" options versus other payment processors.

Affirm is only available for shops on CS Payments. Transaction rates for Affirm vary. You can find your transaction rate in the Payment Gateways tab, in the Affirm section.

Payouts for Affirm payments follow the same cadence as CS Payments. This means you can expect to see payouts on a rolling 2-day schedule.

Troubleshooting Errors

Expand this section to know about the common errors and how to troubleshoot them.

Here are some common errors and issues with resolutions:

How Do Payouts Work?

Payouts are included in the CS Payments payouts. These will show a “py” pay ID in the details under your CommentSold Payments tab.

Is there a maximum purchase amount for an order with Affirm?

  • Yes, the max purchase amount is $30,000.

Affirm is not showing as an option at checkout.

  • There is a minimum order total of $50.00 for Affirm to appear as an option.
  • If the order is over $50, check to ensure you have this payment gateway enabled under Setup > Payment Gateways

The customer is getting the “Sorry you can’t use Affirm for this purchase” error. Why?

The purchase amount is either below the $50 minimum purchase charge or above the maximum purchase amount.

How do refunds work with Affirm?

Affirm pays the shops the full amount and then handles collecting the payments from customers. In CommentSold, you will refund the full amount and then Affirm refunds the customer whatever amount is necessary.

Your customers can reference this article for more info on how refunds work.

What does the pay ID look like on an order paid through Affirm?

#py followed by (affirm/stripe)

The customer has a pending charge, but no order was created. What happened?

Similar to PayPal, Sezzle, or Klarna, when a customer uses Affirm, they are directed to an external checkout page to complete their order. If the customer does not check out in time, the connection may time out for security purposes. This initial authorization may show as a pending charge in the customer’s bank account. Since the order was not created, the pending charge will be removed from their account within a day or so. The customer will not be charged.
