Eager to gain a better understanding of customer acquisition, conversion, and purchase history?
Your Customer Insights tab helps you identify opportunities to strategically target your marketing efforts, such as focusing efforts on customer acquisition through a specific sales channel (e.g., your mobile app).
Customer Insights Data Sets
Your Customer Insights tab houses 7 different data sets. We review each of these below.
Data Set | Information Displayed | How You Can Use It |
Unique Customers | Displays the number of individual customers who placed an order during a selected time frame (daily, weekly, or monthly). |
Identifying dips or spikes that may indicate shifts in customer behavior. If the count decreases, consider strategies to re-engage your customer base. Compare this metric across different periods (day-over-day, week-over-week, or month-over-month) to spot patterns and troubleshoot potential causes. |
First Time Customers | Displays the number of first-time customers within a selected time frame (daily, weekly, or monthly), along with the total GMV generated by those customers. |
Monitor your customer acquisition efforts. An increase indicates success with your acquisition strategies (e.g., ads, promotions, or social media efforts). If this metric declines, evaluate your current approach and consider adjustments or new methods to attract more first-time shoppers. |
First Time Customers Product Revenue by Order Source | Displays product revenue from first-time customers by order source (daily, weekly, or monthly). |
See which sales channels drive new customer purchases and track revenue shifts.
If certain sources lag, adjust promotions or engagement strategies to attract more first-time buyers. |
# of Orders in First 30 Days |
Displays the number of times a new customer ordered within their first 30 days, broken down by month. *Does not include split orders |
Target customers for repeat purchases. Your goal is to increase overall number of purchase. If customers only order once, spin up an email campaign to target those one-time purchasers with best-selling product recommendations and/or offer a Free Shipping window that gives customers free shipping on a second order if placed within a certain time frame. |
# of Orders in First 30 Days % |
Displays the percentage of orders coming from customers' 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc purchases within their first 30 days. *Does not include split orders |
Monitor repeat purchasing trends. Ideally, you’d like to see customers make more than one purchase within their first 30 days. If you find that the majority of your customers are only ordering once during their first 30 days, you can target your marketing to this group to encourage repeat purchases. |
Orders per Customers in Their First 90 Days |
Displays the number of orders customers placed within their first 90 days. *Does not include split orders |
Track order volume of first-time customers over 90 days. Ideally, you want to see customers make 5+ purchases in their first 90 days. If you find the majority of your customers are ordering less than 5 times in their first 90 days, you can target this group to encourage repeat purchases. |
Average Order Value (AOV) | Displays the average order value of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd orders by month. |
Know when to add cross-sell opportunities to your business. Ideally, you want your Average Order Value (AOV) above $40 for all customers. If overall AOV falls below $40 per order, consider:
