What is Quantity Claiming in CommentSold?
Quantity Claiming allows Facebook shoppers to request multiple units of a product using a single claim comment. For example, a shopper can comment SOLD AA 10 blue to request 10 units of the blue variant.
If the requested quantity is available, CommentSold adds the available units to the shopper's cart. If there is not enough inventory, the remaining quantity is added to the shopper's waitlist.
What should a shopper comment to claim multiple quantities?
A quantity claim comment generally follows this format:
SOLD + Product Identifier + Quantity + Variant
For example:
SOLD AA 10 blue small
This means the shopper is requesting 10 units of the blue, small variant of product AA.
For a product without variants:
SOLD AA 10
For a single-item Facebook post where a product identifier isn't required:
SOLD 10 blue small
| Product setup | Example claim comment | Meaning |
| Product without variants | SOLD AA 10 | Claim 10 units |
| Product with color | SOLD AA 10 blue | Claim 10 blue units |
| Product with color and size | SOLD AA 10 blue small | Claim 10 blue, small units |
| Multiple variants | SOLD AA 10 blue 5 red | Claim 10 blue and 5 red units |
| Single-item Facebook post | SOLD 10 blue small | Claim 10 blue, small units without a product identifier |
What happens after a shopper submits a quantity claim?
A quantity claim can have one of three outcomes:
- Carted: The requested quantity is available and is added to the shopper's cart.
- Waitlisted: Some or all of the requested quantity is unavailable, so the unavailable quantity is added to the shopper's waitlist.
- Comment not read: CommentSold cannot interpret the comment because the required information is missing or incorrectly formatted.
CommentSold can read claim comments that include the necessary pieces of information in the correct order: SOLD + Letter Identifier (AA) + Quantity (10) + Variants (color and/or size).
CommentSold will add the claimed items to a shopper’s cart and will link a shopper to their cart. The shopper can complete the checkout process on their account page.
If an item does not have enough inventory to entirely fulfill a shopper’s claim comment, then CommentSold will add the available inventory quantity to the shopper’s cart and the remainder to the shopper’s waitlist. CommentSold links the shopper to their account page where they can view their waitlisted items.
If a shopper’s comment does not include the necessary information, then CommentSold automatically replies to their comment, informs them that the system was not able to read their comment, and requests that they comment again with the correct information.

How Quantity Claiming Works
Quantity claiming is available for Facebook shoppers only. Shoppers may claim the items on Facebook via a product post or live sale and complete their checkout on your website or mobile app.
If you have previously linked live sales and posts on Facebook, you will need to unlink these items before enabling quantity claiming. Unlinking posts and lives prevents shopper confusion and potentially carting the wrong amount of an item.
Quantity claiming uses letters as identifiers instead of the traditional numbers (e.g., SOLD ABC instead of SOLD 102). CommentSold reads the number in a claim comment as the amount of the item the shopper wishes to claim. Learn more about educating shoppers on how to comment shop after you enable quantity claiming here.
You will need to contact the CommentSold Support team to have quantity claiming enabled. Select the blue Chat icon in the bottom-right corner of your CommentSold dashboard to start your request.
Determine Product Inventory Amounts
When using quantity claiming, the way you calculate the total amount of units in stock may be slightly different than traditionally entering how many items you have on hand. We recommend that you determine your product inventory calculation approach based on how you will choose to sell the item.
To calculate the number of inventory units for products you sell by length, first decide on a standard selling increment such as half, quarter, or full yard. This standard increment will help shoppers know the amount of an item they will need to claim when they comment claim on items sold by length.
When you add new products sold by length to your CommentSold inventory, the number of units you’ll enter is based on the amount of the product received and your standard selling length.
For example, say you receive 50 yards of rope and you decide your selling length is by the half yard. Your inventory amount would be 100 half yards of rope.
If a shopper comment claims 2 of the rope, then they will claim 2 half yards (or 1 yard) of rope.
To sell items by the pack or bundle, you will need to include details of the products included in the pack or bundle. Details may include the number of items in the pack or bundle, the sizes, and/or the colors.
For example, say one pack of tops includes the following: 2 small, 2 medium, and 2 large tops of the same style and color.
When you add new products sold by pack or bundle to your CommentSold inventory, the number of units you’ll enter is the number of packs or bundles you have to sell, not the individual number of single items. If you had 7 packs of those tops, you would enter 7, not 14 small, 14 medium, and 14 large.
Another example: Say you receive 100 plant seedlings that you sell in bundles of two. You would enter the inventory amount as 50 bundles of plant seedlings.
If a shopper comment claims 2 of the bundles, then they would claim 4 total plant seedlings.
You may have items you wish to sell individually. To claim more than one of a single product, shoppers will put the total amount they wish to claim in their comment.
When you add a new single product to your CommentSold inventory, you’ll enter the number of individual items in inventory to sell. You can learn about adding single products to your CommentSold product inventory here.
Create Product Identifiers
When you feature multiple items during a live sale or a Shop the Look (or "Shop the Project") video, each item is assigned an alphabetical identifier.
When you use dynamic selection for a live sale, CommentSold assigns the alphabetical identifier starting with A as you scan each item.
When you create a product selection, you assign the alphabetical identifiers. If a product selection contains more than 26 items (one letter per item), you may assign double letters for the remaining items (e.g., AA, BB, CC, etc.).
Why didn't CommentSold recognize my quantity claim?
CommentSold may not recognize a quantity claim if the comment is missing required information or uses the information in the wrong order.
Check that the comment includes the required:
- SOLD keyword
- Product identifier, when required
- Quantity
- Product variants, when applicable
For example:
Correct: SOLD AA 10 blue small
The quantity must appear before the variant information.

How do I enable Quantity Claiming?
Contact CommentSold Support and request that Quantity Claiming be enabled for your shop. You can start a support request using the blue Chat icon in the bottom-right corner of your CommentSold dashboard.
Why does Quantity Claiming use letters instead of numbers?
Quantity Claiming uses alphabetical product identifiers so that CommentSold can interpret the number in the shopper's comment as the quantity they want to claim rather than as the product identifier.
How should I calculate inventory for products sold by length?
For products sold by length, first determine a standard selling increment, such as a half yard, quarter yard, or full yard. Enter inventory based on the number of those selling increments available.
For example, if you have 50 yards of rope and sell it in half-yard increments, enter 100 units of inventory. A claim for 2 would then represent two half-yard units, or one yard.
